there is a forest in lily's heart and haewon has carved her name into every tree.

---

Lily's footsteps don't make a sound as she untangles herself from her bedsheets and heads out into the living room. The memories haven't faded, and neither has Haewon's scent.

She can still smell the other girl's perfume lingering around the house, the subtle aroma making her want to cry and scream and laugh all at the same time.

In fact, she can see traces of Haewon everywhere - a book the younger girl was reading left forgotten on a table, the worn-out jacket she always wears everywhere-

No. Lily shuts her eyes tightly, as if it'll shut the thoughts out too. Don't even think about it.

Her mind betrays her. She knows exactly what's been happening the past few months.

Glances shared. Hugs held for just a little too long. Hands lingering where they shouldn't be. Words whispered in each other's ears, said so quietly you could barely hear them -

I love you, Haewon had murmured, voice as quiet and soft as the rain pattering outside. Lips parted, whispering a silent prayer of love.

Could the feeling really be described as love? Or was it simply an obsession, an ephemeral glow that stopped shining as abruptly as it had started?

Lily clenches her fist so tightly her nails dig into her palm, nearly drawing blood. She'd known all along that the other girl was just "experimenting", and she shouldn't have taken any of this seriously, but it was too late.

There is a forest in Lily's heart and Haewon has carved her name into every tree.
