"He knew these last lines by heart and mouthed them now in the darkness. My reason for life. Not living, but life. That was the touch. And she was his reason for life, and why he must survive."

-Atonement - Ian McEwan

"I wish you Goodluck, Khun Ling."

The older man stated as he shook her hand. She offered a reserve smile and glance around the luxurious office room. This Law Firm has been her home for almost six years. It became a witness of her hard work and sleepless night and she was eternally grateful for the opportunity that it offered to her

"Thank you, Mr. Chaiyaporn. I guess I'll see you next year at the New York convention?" She asked about the annual deliberation among the top lawyers representing some of the selected countries. She attended the convention last year in France.

The man nodded, and after a series of polite exchanges, Ling began to say goodbye to everyone. There is always a comfort that comes with familiarity, but having to grow up independently, Ling knew that there was no point in dawdling. She put on her messenger bag again and walked towards the exit. She took a deep breath and looked around. She will definitely miss Kalasin along with its local delicacies, Her mother's hometown has been good to her, and maybe deep down, she really needs to come here to feel connected to her roots, as it heals something she can't fully explain, but she needed to move forward.

After a while, she hailed a taxi. She quickly entered inside, making herself comfortable.

"Where to, ma'am?"
