Minor spoilers for Hotel Del Luna ahead. (Spoiler warning 1/2)

"Oh hey, Y/N, you're back," Wendy said from the couch as I walked through the front door, fresh after another day of serving raw meat and smelling like barbecue.

"Hey." Looking in her direction, I saw that our living room was once again filled with the members of Red Velvet. "You didn't tell me we had a case today."

"Um... surprise?" Wendy chuckled sheepishly.

"It's my fault," Seulgi called out, sitting next to Wendy on the couch. Been busy with practicals today and I only managed to find the case and tell them about it an hour ago."

"Practicals? What's that?" I locked the front door behind me.

"For my Nursing degree." She slumped her head onto the headrest. "Spent all day talking to patients and checking their vitals and stuff."

"Boy, am I glad I'm not doing a degree."

"What would you even do, though?" Wendy asked.

I shrugged as I approached the group. "I never really thought about it." I sat on the carpet, where the other girls were sitting, around the coffee table.

"Bro, you're not even gonna change?!" Wendy pinched her nose, exaggerating the action. "You smell like shit. Grilled shit."

Joohyun looked up from her phone and sniffed the air. "I don't smell anything."

"See?!" My voice came out a little too loud, causing Sooyoung to jump. "It's not that bad. You just hate my guts."

"You're not the one who'll have to clean the oil stains off the carpet," Wendy muttered, crossing her arms.

"It's not going to stain." I whipped out my phone, finally free to scroll through social media.

"Y/N?" I turned to see that Sooyoung had scooted over to where she was just behind me, her eyes filled with regret.

"Yeah?"

"I don't know how to say this..." she started. "It's just, after last weekend... I mean, I know you said–"

"What is it?" I was very quickly losing my patience.

She held her mouth open, not continuing. Instead, she shook her head. "Nothing."

Losing interest, I turned my back to her, returning my attention to my phone. Though, it proved an insufficient distraction to stop me from feeling the tension now present in the air. The other girls stopped what they were doing, making it feel as though I was being put on the spot in front of an audience, about to give a speech.

"So, uh, Seulgi," Wendy broke the silence, "You haven't told us about the new case you found."

"I thought I told you guys about it ju– Ow!" Seulgi jerked up on the couch as Wendy nudged her in the stomach. It didn't take long for her to mouth an "Oh". "Right, the case."

Seulgi explained the details of the day's investigation. According to her, a user named Choi on the forum reported his brother, Beomgyu, had been acting strange. Suspecting his brother to be possessed, he restrained him to keep him from hurting himself and others, before reaching out for help.

"Sounds pretty serious," I said. "Should we really be taking it on?"

"Would you rather sit this one out?" Seulgi asked.

"I'm just saying, wouldn't it be better to let the police handle it?"

"The police?" Seulgi scoffed. "They don't do jack shit. Call everything either a hoax or mental illness."
