"What are we looking for again?" Yerim called out from behind the group, her voice echoing through the dark hallway. "This place gives me the creeps."

"Of course a university would scare you," Ildo teased.

"At least I didn't drop out like you did."

"You literally haven't even graduated high school."

"I'm about to soon, what's it to you?"

Sooyoung turned to face the bickering duo with a sly smirk. "She's probably just scared that a Rasetsu might pop out of nowhere."

"Am not!"

I looked at Wendy as she chewed on the inside of her lip. The seven of us were walking along the hallway of an abandoned university. According to Seulgi, there had been reports of a strange figure accompanied with weird noises. Pretty standard stuff, but after the two bombshells of cases we had the previous day, standard was just what we were looking for.

"About the Rasetsu, though," Ildo said, "What are the odds of an obscure shape-shifting entity showing up and attacking two people in the span of less than two months?"

"Maybe it wasn't even the same entity," Seulgi spoke up.

"Are you suggesting we might have several of those ugly bastards running around?" Sooyoung asked from the front, walking next to Joohyun.

"I'm just saying, it's not like we've seen the "ugly bastard"'s face. Just blurs in camera footage."

"Are we certain the attacks were even by a Rasetsu?" Joohyun questioned, directed at Wendy. "Like Seulgi said, all we saw were blurs."

"I've never seen one," Wendy shrugged, "But everything we saw and know about the cases lines up."

"I can't shake the feeling that the waitress wasn't a random victim," Ildo added. "Do we know if she had any connections to the first victim?"

Seulgi shook her head. "Already checked. Jaehyun barely talked to anyone when he was alive."

"Except that winter spirit," Yerim added.

"Speaking of the winter spirit," Wendy jumped at the opportunity to change topics, "Anyone else still getting chills thinking about what happened to her?"

"It's like whoever, or whatever she was talking to lashed out at her and wiped her out in an instant," Seulgi echoed Wendy's sentiments, recognising her best friend's intention.

"Did you see what it was that got her, Ildo?" Joohyun asked, to which she received a shake of his head as a response.

'What about you, oppa?" Yerim asked, to my dread.

I couldn't tell them about Jisoo showing up and arguing with the winter spirit, although the others had heard the latter's side of the conversation. As for the shimmer, even I had no clue what it was. Regardless, it was definitely dangerous, seeing what it did to the winter spirit. A sense of imminent doom clouded my head when I remembered that the shimmer had initially been heading in Jisoo's direction.

"Come to think of it," Wendy turned to me, raising an eyebrow, "You were acting all weird before the girl turned to ashes."

I cursed internally, praying the others couldn't read minds.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you rushed headfirst into the danger, yelled out a name, grabbed air, and then fell on your ass as the winter spirit went poof. Jisoo was..." she snapped her fingers repeatedly as she squinted, "Your coworker, right? That's what you told me."
