Chapter 7

It has been about a week since the night that we all found out about our new healing powers and despite it being Mom’s plan it has brought us closer together. When we are in our training sessions we know that it is okay to take a risk because as long as we stay close to each other we won’t be hurt too badly. After out last session though Mom told us that since we have been doing so well that she is going to have to kick it up a notch which has been making all of us worried.

When we walk into our training room Mom is already in her observation room,” hello Beta team I hope that you all are prepared for today’s training session. I promise it will not be like any of the ones before. Sadie as team leader your choices will affect the whole team so with that in mind I want you to pick a number from 1 to 3 and then a number from 1 to 5.”

Sadie looks at Buddy and I and we just shrug out shoulders at her. “Okay I pick 2 and then 4.”

After a slight pause Mom comes back over the speaker,” Okay that is your choice and you will have to remember that you are the one that picked it. So with the scenario that you picked you guys will have to capture a red flag and maintain control over it for a whole minute before your opponent can. If you do that then you are the winners it is pretty simple.”

We all look at each other and I finally ask the question this is on all of our minds,” who is the other team?”

“Here why don’t I just show you.” When she says that a door opens up and walking into the room is Alpha team. They are wearing uniforms that look just like ours but instead of the blue trim theirs is red. 

We meet them in the middle of the room and just stare at each other until the silence is broken by Rex. “So what one are we doing?” he says looking up at Mom.

“They have picked #4.”

Rex and the rest of the Alphas let big smiles come across their faces and they start giving each other high fives. Rex looks at Sadie and extends his hand until she reaches out to shake it. When she does Rex pulls her in close to his body,” I will be guarding you very closely.”

Sadie pulls away from him but keeps eye contract,” good, I can’t wait” and she turns and walks away.

I step up to Rex and hold out my hand to him and he looks down at me with a smirk on his face. He reaches for my hand but when he touches it I electrify my hand giving him a shock and making him pull his hand back. “Good luck” I say to him as I turn away and walk with Buddy towards Sadie.

“Nice one bro” he says to me as he gives me a fist bump.

When we are all on opposite sides of the room Mom comes over the loud speaker again, “okay is everyone ready?” We all nod and when we do there is a loud whooshing sound and a long pole comes out of the top of a wall and on the end is a bright red flag. “Remember everyone; anything goes.” When she says that a loud buzzer goes off and it is on.

We all take off towards each other and while we run Sadie start to shout orders,” Buddy you are going to take on Rex and I’ll take on Spike and Skip. That means that Gizmo you will be the one to get the flag so do it fast because I don’t know how long I will be able to hold them off.”

I nod to her hoping that my static electricity training will be enough to reach the flag. When we get closer I see Rex giving orders to his team and he is pointing at the flag and Skip nods and when he does I know what is about to happen and I have little time. I make a small ball of energy with enough power to hopefully knock him off his feet and toss it straight towards his chest. When it makes contact Skip falls to the ground alarming Rex and Spike.

“What the hell did you do that for?” Sadie shouts.

“Skip was gonna teleport to the flag so I had to stop him and hopefully that shock will short out his power like last time.”
