Chapter 18

We make it to the top floor and I realize that I have actually never been up here before. There is only one hallway and I can see that all the way at the end are two large French doors that I am positive lead to Mom’s office. Walking towards them I can feel my heart starting to beat rapidly and I can see that everyone else is also starting to feel nervous. When we reach the doors Rex places his hands on them holds for a second then swings them open.

            Stepping into the office I see Mom is sitting behind a large desk just staring at us like she has been waiting. “I knew you all would come back eventually” she says standing up. “Now why don’t you come over here and give me a hug” she says opening her arms. I think about doing it for a split second and Rex must have noticed because his arm comes across my chest and hold me back.

            “The only reason we are here is to put an end to H.O.M.E and you” Rex says stepping forward.

            A devilish smile comes across Mom’s face,” that won’t be so easy.”

            “We aren’t afraid of you or your pets” Spike says standing next to Rex.

            Mom lets out a short laugh,” they really are something, aren’t they? You see after each of you were created someone come up with a brilliant idea to make the Omegas. Who was that… oh yes me. I thought that we needed a contingency plan in case you all got to rambunctious. So we designed enemies for each of you with powers that were picked to make them hard for you to defeat. On top of that we also denied them the luxuries that you were afforded like names or freedom. They were treated and trained as soldiers and that is just what they are. I think that creating super-powered crime fighters was a cute idea but now looking at the Omegas I think making soldiers will be more profitable. Every army in the world will pay through the nose to get a platoon of them, don’t you think?”

            “Are you crazy? Those things are monsters and no one is going to pay to have them anywhere near their country” Sadie says to her.

            “What do you mean dear?” Mom asks her tilting her head slightly.

            “They murdering Skip for no reason at all” she says back almost yelling at her.

            “Oh no that wasn’t their choice that was mine. Like I said they have no freedom everything they do is based on the orders that I give them” she says looking at us.

            “You can’t just treat us like your play things and then kill us off when you are done with us!” Rex says yelling at her and I can see that his anger is making him start to change.

            “See you are wrong because that is exactly what I am doing” she says then she presses a button on her desk. When she does a secret door opens up from the side wall of her office and standing there are the remaining Omegas. They walk across the room and stand between us and Mom,” if you think that you are better then all of this then please show me.”

            Rex turns and starting giving out orders,” Spike you and I will take the leader while Buddy goes for the one with four arms and Sadie and Gizmo can tag team for the speedster girl.” We all nod and the three of them run towards their targets while Sadie and I stay back.

            “What is the plan?” I ask her hoping she has an idea for taking out the fat girl.

            “I think if we just get her off of her feet that will help us out greatly.” I shake my head and Sadie and I charge at the girl who is just standing there waiting for us. When we are about two feet away from her she vanishes out of sight.
