A/N this takes place during 6th year.

It was well past midnight when Y/N Snape heard a soft tap at her dorm room window. The cool September breeze whispered through the slightly open crack, carrying with it the scent of the night. She sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, and squinted toward the window. There, outside her room in the Slytherin dungeon, was Draco Malfoy.

He flashed her a familiar smirk, his platinum hair glimmering in the faint moonlight, his grey eyes twinkling mischievously.

"Draco?" she whispered, her heart racing at the sight of him. "What are you doing here?"

"Get dressed, Love," Draco replied, his voice barely louder than a murmur but still full of excitement. "I’ve got a surprise for you."

Y/N hesitated for a moment, but the gleam in his eyes was too enticing to ignore. Quickly, she threw on her warmest cloak and tiptoed past her sleeping dormmates. Within minutes, she was climbing out of the window and into Draco’s waiting arms. He pulled her close, planting a soft kiss on her forehead before taking her hand in his.

“Where are we going?” she asked, curiosity bubbling up as they quietly made their way through the deserted castle halls.

“You’ll see,” he replied with a wink, keeping his voice low.

The pair snuck past the portraits, who were all blissfully asleep, and slipped through the main doors of Hogwarts. The moon was high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the grounds. Draco led her down the familiar path toward the Black Lake, the water glistening beneath the stars. But something was different tonight. As they drew closer, Y/N noticed a soft glow coming from the edge of the lake.

And then she saw it—a picnic, perfectly set up on the shore. A cozy blanket was laid out on the grass, surrounded by floating candles that flickered gently in the night. Plates of her favorite foods, sweet treats, and a bottle of chilled butterbeer were set out, all under the blanket of a star-filled sky.

Her breath caught in her throat.

"Draco..." she whispered, touched by the sight before her.

“I know it’s not much,” he said, guiding her down to sit on the blanket, “but I wanted to do something special for you. It’s been… well, a bit mad with everything going on, and I just wanted to remind you how much you mean to me.”

Her heart melted at his words. She leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips, and when they broke apart, she smiled. “You didn’t have to do this. But I love it.”

Draco’s usual confident smirk softened into something warmer. “I had to. You’re the only thing keeping me sane sometimes, Love.”

They spent the next hour under the stars, sharing whispered words and quiet laughter, the world around them fading into nothing but the sound of the gentle lapping of the lake and the rustling of leaves in the night breeze. As they lay back on the blanket, her head resting on his chest, Draco wrapped his arm around her, holding her close.

“I wish we could stay like this forever,” she murmured, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on his arm.

“Who says we can’t?” he replied softly, his fingers running through her hair. "I’m not letting go of you, Y/N. Not now, not ever."

She smiled, closing her eyes and feeling safe in his arms. Maybe the world beyond was complicated, but for now, in this moment, everything was perfect.

And under the stars by the Black Lake, that was all that mattered.
