 Tay's POV:

Hello, I'm Tay, and today I'm celebrating my 18th birthday. In my family, it's a big event because I'm the eldest son. I have a younger sister who is 13, but I'm always in the spotlight. Both of my parents are in politics – my mom used to be a diplomat, so I didn't see her much during my childhood, and my dad is currently a minister. I have a great life. This year, I'll finish high school and then, according to the pre-planned path, I'll go on to study political science to follow in my parents' footsteps.

Today, there's a big celebration for my 18th birthday. My parents really outdid themselves – the hotel where the party is being held is one of the most luxurious in the country. It's located in the heart of the city and is known for its elegant architecture and top-notch services. The entrance hall is huge, with marble floors and crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There are floral arrangements and artworks everywhere, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.

The celebration is taking place in the main banquet hall, which is decorated in gold and white tones. The tables are covered with silk tablecloths, and each table has beautiful floral arrangements. At one end of the hall, there's a stage where live music is playing, and at the other end, there's a huge buffet with various delicacies. There's also an open bar serving the most luxurious drinks.

The guests are dressed in their finest clothes, and the air is filled with the scent of expensive perfumes. The atmosphere is full of anticipation and excitement because everyone knows that this celebration is not just about my birthday but also about strengthening social and political ties. My parents made sure that the most influential people are here, and I know I have to make an impression.

Not that I like these types of parties, but the connections will come in handy. I've always been the center of attention because of my parents, and thanks to that, I keep meeting new people. They don't like me either. I've known this since childhood – they come to me and force me to play with their children to gain some brownie points with my parents or hope that I'll speak well of them at home. They have everything calculated in advance, so I learned early on that I have to plan everything and not involve emotions, especially if I can gain something from it.

Just like my engagement – I've seen her maybe five times in my life, but our parents agreed in our childhood that it would be a suitable match for the families. I don't care; I'm just a pawn on my parents' chessboard, and it's up to me how I play it. I plan to marry her after I graduate, have a few kids with her, and then let her do whatever she wants, of course, out of the media's sight. The family doesn't allow scandals.

My sister, Anna, is completely different from me. She's quiet, introverted, and always stays in the background. My parents often overlook her because they focus all their attention on me and my achievements. Anna admires me, but I find her weak and uninteresting. I often ignore her or use her when I need someone to help me with something boring or unpleasant. I remember once forcing her to do my homework because I had more important things to do. When she got mad at me, I just laughed at her and told her she should be glad she could be useful to me. I know it hurt her, but honestly, her feelings never really mattered to me. For me, only what benefits me is important.
