Elijah - POV

I stare up at the sky as the glow continues to get brighter. The air vibrates, and the forest goes silent. We all watch as the barrier reaches above the trees before it disappears in a flash. The strange symbols on the trees and the decorated stones spread around the border of the pack vanish as well.

Out of curiosity, I walk up to the place where the stone is and wave my hand through the air. My eyes widen as the invisible barrier shimmers, and the symbol on the tree glows a dim purple. I slip my cold hand back in my pocket as I glance around. It's beautiful out here in the mountains, but we are definitely secluded compared to the other packs. I guess it was a good idea to do this. My thoughts were wondering as I surveyed the serene landscape.

"That's insane." My brother, Ashton, says in awe as he looks around. I nod in agreement as the other pack members quietly discuss it. The two people responsible for this finally reappear. I watch as they walk over to my father. He's standing with some of the army forces and warrior wolves Alpha Andre sent over.

"He's going to put one up over our school too, right?" Danny asks as he also watches the conversation. I nod, pulling my scarf further around my neck. Some of the marks my mate left are still visible, and I don't want to deal with that at school. Which we are going to be late for if we don't leave soon. Luckily, they seem to wrap things up as his mother disappears, and Callum finally walks over to us.

"Let's go." He tells us as he picks up his bag. Danny nods and walks off first as we follow him. I notice the tired expression on his face. He was already gone when we woke up this morning. Apparently, his mother arrived early with some other witches from their coven.

"You going to able to do that again?" I ask, earning myself a snort. "You look kinda worn out."

Of course, the asshole just smiles as he hikes his bag up higher, an annoying grin covering his tired face. "Yeah. I've got plenty in reserve." He laughs as he passes me and walks beside Danny. "Is that your car?" He asks him as we walk back to the packhouse. When he gets another nod, we are suddenly inside the vehicle.

"What the fuck?" I gasp as my heart rate skyrockets, grabbing my chest in shock. Danny reacts the same way as he looks around wildly from the drivers seat. The asshole just laughs as Danny looks at me through the mirror. His face looking a bit pale. I scowl from the backseat before snapping at the jerk. "Don't do that shit without warning, asshole."

Again, he just laughs before turning around and looking at me. His dark purple eyes sparkling and a shit eating grin on his ridiculously handsome face. My eye twitches as i wonder why the hell he is in the front seat, anyway? That's my seat. "Oh, relax, little human."

My eyes narrow at his words. Little human. I'll show him a little fucking human. "Call me that again and ill..." I try to finish, but my phone starts ringing. He just raises a perfect eyebrow at me before glancing down at my waist. I ignore him and pull my phone from my pocket. Smiling as my mates name appears on my screen.

"Hey." I say happily as I answer. His georgous face appearing on the screen. He leans against a set of lockers. His blue hoodie accentuated his georgous eyes. His beautiful smile on display, revealing all his perfect teeth.

"I missed you." He says quietly as my heart thumps and my face warms. My body reminds me how far apart we are. I smile back and stare at his soft features and wish we were together.

"Me too." I say quietly. Not wanting to draw that annoying warlocks attention.

This earns me another smile as his friend Devon waves as he opens his locker. "I was so lonely without you last night. I had to keep Xander from shifting and running to your pack." He tells me. My smile grows bigger at his sweet words. "It was hard waking up and not seeing you."
