Elijah - POV
After the last explosion, Jarvis sent us in the tunnel and told us he had to help his father. Reminding us that he would meet us at the safe room when it was clear.
We reluctantly entered the hidden passage as the witch permanently sealed it with magic so no one could follow us.
My breathing picked up as we made our way down the long tunnel. The walls are made of a cold stone, and the path is dimly lit. Enough for a shifters eyes, but difficult for a human.
Thankfully, Nicholas didn't abandon me as I followed him through the maze. Filled with different paths, unmarked doors, and split chambers. Something you would find in a Hollywood horror movie.
"Daddy." Jordan screams as the ground shakes again. We stop and huddle against the wall until the loud rumbling stops. The terrifying sound becomes distant, and everything goes silent, with the exception of the whimpers of a small boy.
"Shhh. It's ok." He tries to reassure thd pup as they embrace. But I hear the heavy tone and the uncertainty of his words.
Even Nick's stoic demeanor is slowly breaking as we live through this hell.
"Alright. Let's go." His voice takes its neutral state again as we stand back up and start moving. Walking into a large room with three separate doors. But, instead of going through one of them, Nick taps on the opposite wall.
"What are you doing?" I ask, just as the thumping turns to a hollow sound. I watch curiously as he feels along the edge of the wall until a loud click sounds and a hidden door opens. "Seriously?"
I obviously get no response as we walk through the hidden door. The time it takes us to make our way through gives me a chance to think. I want to try to fit the pieces together, and I realize I need some answers.
So, I stop.
This, of course, catches his attention as he turns and frowns at me. We stare at each other for a moment. My fear demanding I follow him to safety, but the strange feeling in my chest telling me to stop. To wait. To understand.
"Who is attacking us?" I demand, to which I get a scowl.
"We don't have time for..." He tries, but I shake my head and step back. "Elijah?"
"No. Answer me. Who?" I raise my voice a bit, but stop when I notice Jordan press into his fathers chest in fear.
"Let's get to the safe room, and I'll answer your questions." He tries, but I shake my head. We scowl at each other. Both of us. ready to argue, but we don't get the chance as a large explosion sounds outside, causing the ground shakes violently. Enough to knock us off our feet.
"Nick." I scream as the ceiling above us starts to collapse. I jump up and push him forward just as it gives way. Pressing us against the floor as large chuncks of ceiling collapse and clouds of dust fill the air.
My ears ringing as the dust surrounds me before I'm suddenly grabbed by the arm and lifted up. I barely have time to react as I get pulled forward. My legs finally react as we watch cracks form in the walls as we run past them, trying to get ahead of the collapse.
"Run!" Nicholas screams as chunks of the ceiling start breaking free behind us. We turn down several paths before we reach a larger room just as the entire tunnel collapses behind us.
I lay on my back as the dust starts settling. My body was aching as I looked like I was hit by a truck. It's only when I sit up that I realize I'm injured. I see the blood on my arm as I pull my sleeve back. A large gash on the outside of my forearm where a piece of stone must have hit me.
