Elijah - POV
I yawn loudly and stretch out my arms before cracking my back. My body still stiff from whatever they did to me earlier. But, at least now, I feel better. At least enough to walk around this crazy ass castle. I swear, there are a million hallways and passages.
I would get so lost.
"We need to stop here first." Nick's voice catching my attention as I brush out my hair. It's still a bit damp from my much needed shower. It relaxed my muscles and washed that assholes scent off my body. Ugh.
"What is this?" I inquire as we enter a large room, but my question is answered when a woman opens two large wooden doors and a small boy runs out of the room.
"Daddy! Daddy!" The child screams while running straight towards Nicholas.
"Hey, sweetheart." His father chuckles as he catches the rowdy pup. Wrapping his arms around the small boy and scenting his neck. "I missed you."
The scene warming my heart as I watch them embrace. My mind tried desperately not to go to a dark place. Thoughts of what could have been. Not wanting to break down again.
Then my mind flips from sadness to confusion. My eyes narrow as I look nick and the little boy over. Trying to find similar features and failing. Well, except for his eyes. He has very light brown, almost gold eyes. It's his hair that catches me off guard. His hair is almost white, with a few areas of darken tinting.
Then he looks to be around two or three years old. Nicholas can't be much older than me. How does he have a son? My mind a jumble of confusing thoughts as they turn and head over to me. The little pup sucking his thumb as he looks me over. Turning away shyly as I smile at him.
"So, what's your name?" I ask with a bright smile. Which earns me a shy giggle as he buries his face in his fathers neck. Hiding from me while mumbling his answer.
"Jordan."
"Awe. That's a cute name. How old are you?" I ask, just as Nick turns and walks past me. I roll my eyes until I catch Jordan's smiling face. Playing peek-a-boo as i follow behind them. He giggles as he looks at me over his fathers shoulder. Holding up a hand with three fingers.
"Wow. Three. That's a big boy." I chuckle as he hides his face again, laughing into his fathers shoulder.
I continue to chat with the little monster as we make our way around the palace and down more hallways. Not really paying attention until we reach a large area with massive ceilings and columns. It's probably the lowest part of the palace I've been in so far. As I can't really see over the sparse trees anymore.
"This way." Are Nick's first words in what seems like forever. His tone was short and annoyed, as always.
I don't even bother with a response as we walk towards a set of large doors. They are inlayed with beautiful stained glass. They look to open up to an area full of trees and gardens. My eyes study the glass that is covered in scenes of wolves and battles.
"Sir Nicholas." An older man in a suit greets us as we step outside.
I noticed a large table decorated with fancy glasses and tableware. Stuff you would see in one of those shows like bridgerton. I sigh, not really in the mood for another meal with the assholes father and friends. Their all just as stuck up as he is.
"I'm dropping off lord Jarvis' mate. Where is everyone?" Nick's confusion is obvious as we both look at the empty table and the busy staff. Concerned looks on their faces as the walk in and out of the area.
"I'm afraid his grace is unable to attend. His instructions were to start without him." The old man says softly. An air of calmness in his stance, but I can see the concern in his eyes.
