The Moment I've Been Waiting For

It was finally time.

All ten rivals had been eliminated. One by one, I had removed every obstacle standing between Lilith and me. Osana, Amai, Kizana, Oka, Asu, Muja, Mida, Osoro, Hanako, and even Megami—each of them had been taken down in their own way, leaving Lilith completely unaware of the chaos that had surrounded her.

And now, I was the only one left. No more distractions. No more competition. Lilith was mine.

For so long, I had watched her from the shadows, planning, waiting, dreaming of this moment. The moment when I could finally stand before her and tell her how I truly felt—how much I needed her, how much she meant to me. Everything I had done, every lie I had told, every life I had ruined, it was all for this.

And now, with no one left to stand in my way, the time had come.

Preparing the Confession

It had to be perfect. Everything about this moment had to be flawless. I couldn't afford any mistakes. Not after everything I had done to get here.

I decided to confess my feelings to Lilith in the most beautiful and meaningful place possible—beneath the cherry blossom tree behind the school. It was the same spot where so many confessions had taken place over the years, and now it would become the place where I would claim Lilith's heart once and for all.

I spent the entire day making sure everything was perfect. I rehearsed my words over and over in my mind, carefully planning every line, every pause, every gesture. I imagined the way Lilith would react—surprised at first, but then moved by my sincerity, by the depth of my feelings. She would understand how much I loved her. She would see how much I had sacrificed to be with her.

And then, she would be mine.

The Confession

As the sun began to set, casting a soft golden light over the school grounds, I made my way to the cherry blossom tree. The petals were falling gently, swirling in the evening breeze, creating the perfect romantic atmosphere. I stood there, waiting, my heart racing with anticipation.

It wasn't long before I saw her—Lilith, walking toward me with that same gentle smile on her face that I had fallen in love with so long ago. She had no idea what was about to happen. No idea what I was about to reveal.

"Hey, you wanted to talk?" Lilith asked, her voice as sweet and kind as ever.

I nodded, trying to keep my composure. "Yeah. There's something important I need to tell you."

She tilted her head slightly, curiosity flickering in her eyes. "What is it?"

For a moment, I felt my heart race in my chest, pounding so hard I could barely hear my own thoughts. This was it. The moment I had been waiting for.

"I've been thinking about you a lot," I began, my voice steady but filled with emotion. "Ever since the day I first met you, you've been the most important person in my life. You're kind, beautiful, and everything I could ever want. I've always admired you from afar, but... I don't want to keep those feelings hidden anymore."

Lilith's eyes widened slightly, a look of surprise crossing her face. I could tell she hadn't expected this, but I pressed on.

"I love you, Lilith," I said, my voice soft but filled with intensity. "I've loved you for so long. I've always wanted to be by your side, to protect you, to make sure you're happy. I've done everything I could to be here, to make this moment happen."

I took a step closer, my heart racing, my breath shallow. "Will you be mine?"

Lilith's Reaction

For a moment, there was silence. The world seemed to hold its breath as I waited for her answer.

Lilith looked at me, her eyes filled with something I couldn't quite place—confusion, perhaps? Or was it something else? She took a small step back, her smile faltering just slightly.

"Wow," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I... I don't know what to say."

My heart skipped a beat. This wasn't the reaction I had expected.

"I didn't realize you felt this way," she continued, her voice soft. "You've always been a good friend to me, and I'm so grateful for everything you've done, but..."

She hesitated, and my heart sank. But?

"But I don't feel the same way," she said finally, her words like a dagger to my chest. "I'm really sorry. You're an amazing person, and I care about you, but not in that way. I've never seen you like that."

I stared at her, my mind racing, trying to process what she had just said. Not in that way? After everything I had done? After everything I had sacrificed? No... this wasn't how it was supposed to go. This wasn't the ending I had worked so hard for.

"Lilith... you don't understand," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "I've done everything for you. I've been there for you. I've protected you. You can't say no... you're supposed to say yes. You're supposed to love me back."

Her expression softened, but the rejection was still clear in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I really am. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just... I can't force myself to feel something that isn't there."

The Shattered Dream

I felt like the world was crumbling around me. Everything I had planned, everything I had done—it was all for nothing. My mind raced, a storm of emotions swirling inside me. Anger, frustration, pain. How could she say no? After everything I had done, after eliminating every single person who had stood in my way... how could she reject me?

I clenched my fists, trying to control the surge of emotion that threatened to overwhelm me. "You... you don't understand," I said again, my voice barely more than a whisper. "You're supposed to be with me. I've worked so hard. I've gotten rid of everyone who was in our way. They're all gone now, and we're finally free to be together."

Lilith's eyes widened in shock, and I realized too late what I had just said.

"Gotten rid of...? What do you mean?"

I froze, the weight of my words crashing down on me like a tidal wave. No. I had said too much.

"Wait... what are you talking about?" Lilith asked, her voice now tinged with fear. "What do you mean by 'gotten rid of'?"

I stumbled backward, panic surging through me. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. I had been so careful, so precise. But now, everything was falling apart. Lilith wasn't supposed to know. She wasn't supposed to be afraid of me.

"Lilith... I... I didn't mean—" I tried to explain, but the words wouldn't come.

She took another step back, her eyes wide with realization. "You... you did something to them, didn't you? All those people... the rivals... Osana, Amai, Megami... You were behind it."

I felt my heart pounding in my chest, my mind racing for a way out, a way to fix this. But there was nothing I could say. The truth was out, and I could see it in her eyes—she knew.

"I have to go," she said suddenly, turning and running away from the cherry blossom tree.

I watched her go, my hands shaking, my heart breaking.

Everything I had done... everything I had worked for... it was all gone.

Lilith was gone.
