The Next Rival

Asu Rito was a problem from the moment she entered Lilith's life. Bright, confident, and full of energy, she was the captain of the swimming team, and her athleticism caught everyone's eye—including Lilith's.

Unlike the previous rivals, Asu wasn't subtle about her feelings. She was loud, enthusiastic, and constantly challenging Lilith to races, friendly competitions, and activities around the school. Lilith seemed to enjoy the attention, smiling whenever Asu playfully teased her or invited her to swim practice.

Asu was a completely different challenge from the others. She didn't have the insecurities of Osana or the introversion of Oka. She was bold, unafraid, and her friendship with Lilith grew quickly as they bonded over their shared love for physical activity.

It was infuriating to watch.

I knew Asu would make her move soon—she was too confident not to. I had to stop her before she had a chance to get any closer to Lilith. But I needed to be smart. Asu was well-liked, and everyone admired her athletic ability. A direct approach wouldn't work.

No, I would have to turn her strength into her weakness.

Learning the Competition

The first step was to get close to Asu without raising suspicion. It wasn't difficult—she loved to show off her swimming skills and was always surrounded by students who admired her. I watched her closely during practice, learning her routine, her habits, her strengths—and, most importantly, her weaknesses.

Asu's confidence was both her greatest strength and her biggest flaw. She thrived on competition, always pushing herself to be the best. But that drive to succeed also made her reckless. She would push herself too hard, even when it wasn't safe.

That recklessness would be her downfall.

The Plan: Drowning in Victory

The school's swimming pool was the perfect place for an "accident." I knew Asu spent hours there after school, either training alone or helping other students improve their skills. It was her domain, and she was always in control—until now.

I spent several days watching the pool, learning the layout and the equipment. The most important discovery came when I noticed the pool's filter and drainage system. It was powerful, capable of creating strong underwater currents when activated at full capacity.

If someone were to be caught in that current at the wrong moment, they could be dragged under, unable to escape.

I couldn't take any chances with a public sabotage. I needed to lure Asu into a situation where no one else would be around to save her.

Setting the Trap

My opportunity came one afternoon when I overheard Asu and Lilith talking. Asu was excited about an upcoming swimming competition, and Lilith had agreed to help her practice after school. It was the perfect setup.

I made sure to stay out of sight as they entered the pool area, watching as Asu dove into the water with her usual enthusiasm. Lilith cheered her on from the sidelines, clearly impressed by Asu's speed and agility. It made my blood boil.

I waited until Lilith left to grab something from the locker room, leaving Asu alone in the water. That's when I made my move.

I quietly entered the pool area, making my way to the maintenance room where the pool's filter system was controlled. I had already studied the control panel and knew how to adjust the settings. I cranked the system to its highest level, creating a powerful, dangerous current beneath the water.

Then, I returned to the pool, staying in the shadows, and watched.

The Drowning

Asu didn't notice the change right away. She was still swimming laps, pushing herself harder and harder, as always. But soon, the current grew stronger, pulling her off course.

She frowned, stopping in the middle of the pool, her breathing heavy. "What the...?"

Before she could react, the current intensified, dragging her underwater.

"Asu!" I heard Lilith's voice from the entrance of the locker room, but she was too far away to do anything.

Asu struggled, kicking and flailing as the powerful current pulled her under, her arms reaching for the surface, but the force was too strong. Her powerful legs, the ones she had relied on to make her the fastest swimmer in the school, were useless against the mechanical pull of the water.

I watched in silence as her body twisted and thrashed, bubbles escaping from her mouth as she fought for breath. It wasn't long before her movements grew weaker, her struggles slowing until, finally, she stopped moving altogether.

Asu Rito, the star athlete, the confident, unbeatable swimmer, was gone. Drowned in the very pool where she had once reigned supreme.

The Aftermath

By the time Lilith reached the pool's edge, it was too late. Asu's lifeless body floated on the surface, the ripples of the water slowly fading. Lilith screamed, running to get help, but there was nothing anyone could do.

Asu's death was ruled a tragic accident. The school assumed she had pushed herself too hard during practice and been caught by the pool's filter system. No one suspected foul play. After all, Asu was known for her reckless attitude when it came to sports. Everyone believed she had simply made one mistake too many.

Lilith was devastated, of course. Asu had been her friend, someone she admired for her strength and energy. But, as time passed, Lilith began to heal, and slowly, the memory of Asu faded.

As for me? I felt nothing but satisfaction.
