Riley's POV
1 year later
"Are you nervous?" I ask Olivia as we're finishing up doing her hair. My fingers glide through the last strand, securing it in place with a delicate pin. Her light hair is swept back into an elegant updo, a few loose curls framing her face perfectly. I step back, admiring my work, but mostly just taking in how stunning she looks.
Olivia meets my gaze in the mirror, her ice blue eyes glinting with something between excitement and hesitation. "I don't get nervous," she says, but the tightness in her smile betrays her.
"Sure you don't," I tease, raising an eyebrow. "But it's okay if you are. It's kind of a big deal, you know—getting married and all."
Olivia lets out a small breath, her shoulders relaxing slightly. "I just want everything to be perfect for Sofia," she admits softly. Her fingers toy with the edge of her veil, smoothing it out as if it's the only thing she can control right now.
I smile and place my hands on her shoulders, giving them a reassuring squeeze. "It already is perfect. You and Sofia—this day—it's all going to be amazing. Trust me."
She turns to face me, the hint of a smile finally reaching her eyes. "Thanks, Ry. You always know what to say."
"Of course I do," I say, grinning. "That's why I'm here. Maid of honor duties and all."
We both laugh and just then, there's a knock at the door, and Carter pokes her head in, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Look how adorable they are."
She walks in holding Olivia and Sofia's twin babies. One boy one girl.
Olivia's face lights up as soon as she sees Carter with the twins. The tension that was still lingering in her shoulders melts away, and she reaches out her arms, motioning for Carter to bring them over.
"Look at them," Olivia whispers, her voice full of awe as she takes her son from Carter's arms. His tiny fingers curl around a strand of her veil, and Olivia chuckles softly, brushing a kiss against his forehead. "They look perfect."
Carter hands over their daughter next, and I watch as Olivia cradles both of them, completely entranced by her little family. Her ice-blue eyes shimmer with unshed tears as she balances the two in her arms. The love in the room is so palpable it's almost overwhelming.
"I can't believe they're here," Olivia says, her voice barely a whisper, as she glances between the twins. "I can't believe this is real."
"It is real," Carter reassures her, smiling softly as she gazes down at the babies. "You deserve all of this."
I cross my arms, leaning back against the vanity. "They're going to be spoiled rotten. You know that, right?"
Olivia grins at me, a playful glint in her eyes. "I think they've already started."
I laugh, "Well you're right about that."
"Have you seen Sofia?" Olivia asks Carter.
Carter nods, her eyes softening. "Yeah, she's in the other room, pacing like a maniac. She's nervous too, you know."
Olivia raises an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on her lips, "Did you hand her the twins? That usually helps."
Carter chuckles softly, "Of course I did. It helped for a little bit, you're both nervous."
"True," Olivia says, smiling. "But I'm glad it's not just me. Maybe I should go check on her." She shifts one of the twins in her arms, gently swaying side to side.
I hold up a hand, stopping her. "No way, you're staying right here."
Carter takes the twins back, "You worry about finishing on time I'll worry about Sofia."
