Chapter 14 'Not real'

so this is the part where like five and everyone dies bc obviously he travels back in time and stuff

Everyone is lying on the floor, their faces blank, red blood surrounding their bodies and pooling out underneath them.

Five lies on the ground defeated as the Handler's boots click and she walks away. 

Lila is lying dead on top of Diego, her last moments spent over his dying shape.

Stellar is next to him, immobile. 

Five breathes out and prepares to die.

To admit he failed.

Suddenly, he feels something brush against his hand.

With and effort and a sharp pain in his stomach, he turns his head to see Stellar staring at him, eyes open and glassy with tears, but alive. Just.

"Five." She whispers, and winces as this creates a fast blood flow that emerges from the gaping hole in her stomach. She manages to grab onto his hand, but weakly. Five gently curls his fingers around her hand. He's not actually sure why. Maybe he just wants some comfort in his last moments.

"I-I'm sorry." She chokes out.

For what?

As much as he hated to admit it, Five knew that she had every right to be mad. He killed her parents. He wanted to tell her everything, about the Handler and how she did it because she was looking for her. But he couldn't. 

Stellar stops there, her eyes losing their spark and her skin paling. Her grip on his hand loosens. Five panics, thinking that she's died.

"Go back." She murmurs. 

Five stares at her, confused.

"Seconds." She continues softly.

"Go back." Her words echo in his mind as she releases her last breath.

Five wants to reach out and grab her hand again, to have some kind of human closeness while he bleeds out. It's a miracle he hasn't yet.

But suddenly, Five knows what she means.

Go back.

Seconds.

Time travel back.

Seconds.

Five could have sat up in realisation.

He activates his power with his last remaining strength, his last hope to save everyone. Everything.
