"You know what?" Luther says to a disgruntled Five. "A thank you for preserving your existence would be nice."

"A thank you?" Five echoes incredulously.

They both peek over the fence that old Five was standing at not long ago. Stellar stays back and takes this opportunity to trace some futures, or even just try to have a vision, because she needs full concentration to trace everything, and if she's being completely honest, she hasn't been up for doing that for the past three days. She turns her body away from them and lets that familiar rush surge through her veins and the searing pain in her head take over as her eyes glow.

The Hargreeves siblings, all standing together on a farm.

The Handler, dressed in sparkly attire with a crying Lila in front of her.

Lila holding a piece of paper, eyes widening in shock.

A man holding his hands out in desperation, sweat dripping down his forehead in effort.

A red flag falling to the ground, followed by a battle cry.

Gunshots.

Dead figures of everyone lying on the floor.

The horrific visions fade away, and Stellar realises that her hands have gone to her head, which is pounding with stabbing pain. Her knees buckle and she falls to the floor. Had that happened yet? Had it not? Her visions don't happen in order either. She needed time and solitude to untangle the webs of futures and visions and piece them together.

Where is Lila?

Gunshots ring out from behind her, followed by screams and gasps, but Stellar doesn't even turn around. She gently loosens her tight grip on her head, and takes her hands away, letting them fall helplessly to the ground.

The president was dead.

---

Stellar stands on the second floor of Elliot's house, leaning on the balcony railings. Below her, the Hargreeves siblings are gathered around, watching the news on the small TV. Stellar doesn't bother listening in, but she gathers from the brief intervals where she looks at the screen that all of the siblings are wanted.

Stellar sighs. How can six people make such a mess of a timeline?

"The Commission will hunt us down wherever we go." Five says to his siblings. He glances up at Stellar, who is looking out over the railing, her eyes glazed over, deep in thought.

"He's right." Diego confirms. "They'll never stop."

Stellar averts her gaze from the window to Diego for a second before remembering that Lila must have succeeded in recruiting him. She wonders why he's here now, and where Lila is. She needs to find her sister. A wave of desperation and slight sadness washes over Stellar, and she walks away from the now budding argument happening between Five and Diego from downstairs.

Stellar walks into the kitchen just in time to see Lila stumble forwards after teleporting in, briefcase in hand. Stellar rushes over and stables her. She takes one look at her sister's dishevelled face and knows something's up.

"What's wrong?" She asks softly, leading Lila over to the table.

Lila breathes shakily.

"Your parents didn't die in a terrorist attack." She starts.

"What?" Stellar says, confused.

"Mine didn't die in a bank robbery." Lila says blankly.

Stellar gives her a confused look, trying to console her sister, who now has tears brimming in her eyes, threatening to spill over.

"They-they were assassinated." Lila chokes out.

Stellar's eyes widen.

"And I know who did it." Lila continues, a stray tear trickling down her cheek.

"Who?" Stellar breathes, unable to maintain a steady voice.

"Five. Five killed our parents, Stellar. It was him."

---

Stellar felt her whole world shatter. Her ears rung and her head pounded. Lila's words repeated over and over in her head.

Five killed our parents.

Lila looks at her face sadly and hands her two pieces of crumpled paper. Stellar takes them with shaking hands, reading them over. Her eyes widen and the papers fall out of her hands which continue to lack her usual strong grip as they slowly fall to the floor.

Before she knew what she was doing, Stellar stumbled back into the kitchen bench, knocking some neatly stacked plates to the floor with a crash. White shards of glass showered the floor around Stellar's feet, flying out across the room and skidding into walls, but Stellar ignored them, placing her hands on the bend behind her, breathing heavily in shock and disorientation.

Lila reaches out to her sister and gently holds her shoulders.

"Stellar, we need to leave." She whispers urgently.

Stellar knows that she's right, but she can't seem to move. A thousand possibilities fly through her mind, both about what could happen and what happened.

Her breathing is laboured as she nods. She reaches behind her, trying to grab onto anything that might give her some sense of reality. Her hands brush on a smooth metal handle, and she grabs onto it, holding on desperately to the only solid thing that she can reach. Lila reaches out and wipes the tears from her cheeks. Then, she turns around and picks up the papers and the briefcase.

Stellar stays frozen in place, shock still rippling through her body.

Lila extends her hand to Stellar, offering it and Stellar takes it with her own trembling hand, still holding onto the cool, icy handle of what must be a knife.

The two teleport away, back to the Commission in a bright blue flash, but as they leave, a million thoughts are racing through Stellar's head. She can only make out a few.

Five killed my parents.

I made a promise.

I'm going to keep that promise.

A wave of white hot rage crashes over her as both sisters are sucked away into the blue vortex of time, Stellar's eyes harden and she throws the knife that she had been holding onto with a scream of fury.

It lodges itself deep into the wall with a sharp whistle through the air and a loud thunk as a pledge of crazed wrath.

A vow of revenge.

A promise of death.
