Jiyeon stumbled back at the sudden impact, colliding against the glass door behind her.
She panicked-naturally so, for two main reasons-one, someone sneaked into her room with their intentions unknown and two, the lights were out, adding to the uncertainty.
Jiyeon blinked rapidly to let her eyes adjust to the darkness that engulfed her room, and all she could make out was a vague figure in front of her who drowned in the shadows-her breath hitched in her throat, hands desperately tapping the space around her for any item she could use as a possible weapon.
"Hello there, darling." His voice rang lowly, not so far away from her.
There is a fucking man in my room!
The voice in her head screamed.
She assumed herself to at least shout for help or attract attention when caught up in one such situation, but much to her surprise, she fell short of words that did not dare to leave her lips, staying tongue-tied as she frantically looked for an escape.
She heard him chuckle, and her heart fell to her feet.
Lightning struck the earth, illuminating her room for a fraction of a second, and she felt a finger tuck the strands of her hair behind her ear-a burning tingle made her hiss when his fingers graced her skin, warm breath striking her ear and she froze.
"Remember, I have always got my eyes on you." The voice whispered in her ear.
Jiyeon squirmed at the sudden voice by her side, screwing her eyes shut with her hands crossed over her chest, and after a few seconds, she slowly opened her eyes only to catch the lights in her room flicker to life, back to normal.
She desperately looked around in search of any presence, but she found none. She was all alone. His presence felt like a whip of brisk wind that sent shivers down her spine, a voice that swirled around her like smoke, haunting her like a nightmare.
"What the actual fuck." Jiyeon breathed out, breaking the silence.
She crashed onto the bed with a hand on her chest, attempting to focus on her breaths to calm her heart that erratically pounded in her ribcage. The incident felt unreal and eerie.
Stop. Don't think about it.
She immediately reached for her bag on the floor, rummaging through in a hurry for her water bottle and unscrewing the cap; she downed the liquid within seconds, and his voice vividly rang in her ears, alarming her.
Stop!
A knock on the door startled her, making her pause mid-air.
Oh lord, save me.
"Ye- yes?" She let out warily, and the door opened to reveal her Uncle, who had a small smile on his face. Her shoulders instantly relaxed, tensed muscles easing at the familiar person, and she let out a deep sigh.
"Jiyeon, there were some electricity issues-" Chanwoo paused mid-sentence when he noticed her shaken self, "Is everything alright, dear? You seem frightened." He asked in worry.
Jiyeon sucked in a sharp breath and shook her head, "No, I'm fine. Thanks, Uncle."
The elder nodded, though his worry did not wear off, "I think the part-time is taking a toll on you. Rest for today. I have the dishes sorted out." He announced, and she gave him a thin smile in return.
"Good night, Jiyeon." With that said, he had exited the room, closing the door softly to a click, leaving her confined within the four walls.
Jiyeon huffed out a loud, deep exhale and decided to keep her mind off the strange encounter. Screwing the lid back on, she bent down to place it on the floor by her side, and something in her peripheral vision gained her attention.
It was a black feather.
She grabbed the feather by the shaft, wondering about the source of the quill that had magically appeared in her room as she lay down on her bed, but nonetheless, her mind kept crawling back onto the voice.
"Stop it. Stop thinking about it, Jiyeon." She reminded sternly with closed eyes, and not too long after, she found herself slipping into a slumber as exhaustion crept onto her.
But little did she know a pair of red eyes were observing her all along.
soooo how do we like the story so far? 👀👀
