I want to keep tormenting you
Demon.
Jiyeon was no big fan of mystical folklore, but it did not take another beat of her heart to believe him-his ruby eyes, the warmth that emitted from his body, which weighed the depth of the underworld.
She thought the existence of these creatures merely sprung from a human's imagination like a dream that played in the subconscious, but it shook her to the bones to realise that beings who did not have a beating heart were alive.
Her jaw dropped at his revelation, unable to process the fact that she was now standing before a demon, meeting his eyes with his face not so far away from hers.
Death; he embodied it, naturally.
And she happened to welcome him with open arms.
"You're gawking, love." Donghyuck let out a chuckle that rumbled off his chest as his finger beneath her chin pushed it up, closing her agape mouth.
He's got to be kidding, right? She tried to justify it since it made no sense to her.
Her eyelids flung open to meet his amused ones that seemed to enjoy her stupefaction more than he had imagined.
"Now, tell me. How do you wish to die, hm?" Donghyuck questioned nonchalantly with underlying exhilaration upon imagining her pleading for life while he tormented her.
The lack of any indications of jest or prankish humour in his voice convinced her to believe he really was a demon.
"You're a quiet one." He commented when he realised she had few words to say, "How annoying." He clicked his tongue.
Jiyeon's eyes roamed elsewhere, her mind racing with thoughts that she could not fathom-not about him, but more about her fate now in his hands.
Donghyuck's eyes zeroed in on her face, which did not present him with her thoughts, and his inability to comprehend what was happening in her mind ticked him off. Humans were like open books when confronted by him-they were all inevitably petrified of him, unable to even meet his gaze.
And she was the first one to ever dare to look him in the eye.
"C'mon now, you should have something to say." He leaned closer with exasperation written all over his face.
Jiyeon took a step back before swiftly turning around and heading anywhere that was away from him, but her attempt was in vain-his hand quickly came snaking around her waist before she was harshly pulled back, crashing her back against the wall.
"Ow!" Jiyeon let out when her spine collided with the concrete behind her; one of his hands slammed beside her head while the other grabbed her chin, forcing her to face him.
"You think you can escape from me?" He questioned with an arched brow, and the cold silver chain hanging low around his neck graced her skin lightly, the metal cold against the hot, tensed air that encircled them.
Her hands hugged the book to her chest, which rose and fell irregularly against her thumping heart. Her dread was his sole source of elation.
"Deny it all you want, but it's the truth, Kim Jiyeon."
His tone was stern, and her stomach churned upon simply hearing her name from his mouth-almost forgetting how he knew her name, but other pressing matters took up space in her mind-confirming her fate that was doomed in his hands.
"I'm going to make you suffer until your very last breath." Donghyuck deadpanned, lacking any signs of his teasing tone, clearly enjoying the look of utter horror that painted her face.
"Um, Jiyeon?"
Someone called out. And she quickly recognised the voice.
Donghyuck let go of her, his naturally warm hands no longer in contact with her soft skin, and he languidly glanced over his shoulder, quite displeased at the intrusion.
"Stupid humans." He mumbled under his breath, rolling his eyes.
"Hello, Mark!" She exclaimed as relief washed her senses, peeking over Donghyuck's shoulder with anxious eyes that screamed for help, hoping that Mark would get the hint.
However, unexpectedly, he possessed a calm demeanour.
"Hm, should I kill him too?" Donghyuck pondered as he stepped out of her line of sight and leaned against the wall, taking his place beside her while his eyes lingered on Mark, silently watching him from afar.
"I didn't know you spent your alone time at the library?" Mark remarked casually as though she did not seem distraught at the very moment.
"Ah, that, well-"
And then, his words finally dawned on her hazy mind.
"-wait, alone? Alone?" Jiyeon had to say it aloud twice-once, to repeat the word that struck her, and twice, to let it get to her thick head-voice raising an octave, completely baffled.
Jiyeon immediately pointed towards Donghyuck with a raised finger, eyes wide to see that Mark entirely ignored his presence.
"Mark, what about- can you not see him??" She blurted out, disoriented.
Mark looked clueless upon glancing at where she pointed, sporting perplexity.
"See whom?"
What the actual fuck?!
mark second lead?? 👀👀👀
