Who is he?
The question that gnawed at her mind all day long made her zone out during work, getting almost nothing done for the day, and she now sat in the bus station with eyes wandering aimlessly.
"Why, I love watching my prey before I kill them."
She recalled his words.
"A vampire, maybe?" She mused but immediately shook her head at the ridiculous thought, "You have watched too much of the Vampire Diaries." She dismissed her thoughts quickly without drawing any conclusion.
And yet again, she was met with the same question.
Who is he?
"Lee Donghyuck.." She muttered his name for the first time, feeling the dips and lows in her mouth as his name rolled off her tongue.
Merely uttering his name made her shudder, and to think that he could spawn in front of her any moment sent her heart spiking.
Her gaze fell to the watch strapped on her wrist, and a sigh slipped from her lips.
10:27 pm
She hugged her bag close to her body and leaned back on the seating, blinking at the dim yellow light that flickered, appearing almost on the verge of giving up, and there was nothing she resonated the most with at the moment.
She wished to give up her university, which drained her energy, and a part-time job that paid her at the expense of her health. And now she gained a new headache, as if her life wasn't already breaking apart, feeling like she was stuck in a rut. She wanted to quit everything-
Get your shit together. She closed her eyes in determination.
Lee Donghyuck. The name crossed her mind again, and all her determination crumbled to mere dust.
"Missed me already?"
"Ah- fuck!" She breathed out instinctively as the voice beside her made her jump with a hand on her heart, almost dropping the bag in her arms.
Donghyuck appeared, sitting beside her on the bench with a thin smile on his lips as he looked ahead before he turned his head to look down at her-though they had very little height difference, she sat rather slumped, making her appear a lot smaller.
Or maybe it was the fear that shrunk her shoulders.
His raven hair swayed to the soft gust of wind that embraced them occasionally, allowing her to quickly note the silver ring on his eyebrow and deep red swirls not leaving hers.
Jiyeon held her breath, and warmth arose as he dipped his head a little close to hers.
"You were thinking about me, weren't you?" He articulated with eyes shifting between her round black ones that soon dilated at his question.
What the- how does he know?
There is no way!
Can he read minds, too?!
Jiyeon panicked, and his lips curled upwards, watching in satisfaction upon getting the reaction he wanted.
Those goddamn eyes.
Jiyeon tore her gaze away and stood up, creating distance between herself and the unidentified male who appeared out of thin air-dread washed over her senses.
"What do you want from me?" She asked a simple question that could have solved everything, and she hoped she would not have to see his face ever again.
Donghyuck hummed in thought as his fingers fiddled with the silver chain hanging loosely around his neck, and his other hand rested on the top railing of the bench. He spread out both his legs, keeping his eyes fixated on her side profile.
"What does it look like to you?" He cross-questioned.
"A stupid prank that I wish had ended." She mumbled in a whisper, but the silence surrounding them relayed her words clearly to him. She swung her bag by the strap, her head turning to look to her left, restless for her bus to arrive already.
"Ouch, I'm hurt." She glanced over to see him feign hurt with a hand to his chest and lips tugging downwards.
Donghyuck drew his legs close and stood up, sliding his hands into his pockets and taking a step towards her, both now looking ahead as they stood side-by-side.
"Answer me. What does it look like to you?" His voice dropped low, stern and demanding.
Jiyeon's blood ran cold at his grim tone that resonated off his chest in a rumble, and her nails dug into her palm, growing anxious in no time.
"I.. don't know." She softly breathed.
Stay calm. She reminded herself, trying to keep her composure.
Sucking in a sharp breath, she repeated herself louder, "I don't know."
Donghyuck grabbed her face by her chin, harshly forcing her to turn towards him, his touch scraping her skin like a lick of fire, and she looked up at him through her eyelashes that battled absolute terror.
"Do you really not fucking know, or are you putting up a silly little act?" He spat, exasperated as his eyes glimmered blood red, and she felt all the oxygen knocked out of her body, suffocating her.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Jiyeon defended herself, screwing her eyes close and biting the inside of her cheek so hard she could taste the metallic liquid drip onto her tongue.
Donghyuck exhaled sharply, poking his tongue into his cheek as wrath took over him.
"Look." He demanded authoritatively.
And she did as asked to.
"Do you not know who you are fucking talking to?" His fierce tone cut through ripples of air, filling the void with tension as his fingers dipped further into her skin.
Jiyeon looked away, unable to catch her breath under his ghastly gaze that crushed every hint of confidence in her. But she wanted answers. She knew she would not get any sleep if she did not get the answer to his identity.
So she dared to ask the very question.
"Who are you?" Jiyeon asked reluctantly, gathering any courage she could find at the moment.
His eyebrows pinched closer, eyes flickering in between her black ones, searching for her intentions in them, but she seemed like a blank piece of paper, giving away absolutely nothing.
And once again, she was left all alone with no traces of him.
