A puff of pit black smoke twirled in the air like a tornado, and he manifested on the rooftop opposite her house, wishing to be alone.
"Hello there." Rulin grinned brightly at him.
Donghyuck rolled his eyes, turning his back on the three who appeared to wait for him by the rooftop.
"Took you long enough to get here." Renjun complained as he leaned his head on his sister's shoulder.
"It was Lin's idea." Jeno said as his eyes crinkled into crescent moons, throwing her under the bus.
Rulin snapped her finger and, with a flick of her wrist, she shot a small fireball in Jeno's direction, but he was quick in defending himself by merely raising his hand and deflecting its direction of aim-both watching as the flame died down as wind whirled around.
"What brings you here?" He asked, hunching by the railing and disregarding the bantering between them.
"That girl." Rulin answered, causing his eyes to shift onto the unoccupied room, and his mind thought back to the interaction at her university.
"What about her?"
"Did you find anything about her identity?" Renjun lethargically asked while stretching himself.
Donghyuck shook his head in a no, "I don't think she is aware of her abilities... yet." He replied as he contemplated her gullibility.
"What, so she doesn't know she can see fucking demons with her naked eyes?" Rulin uttered in disbelief.
"That makes no sense- his eyes are a dead giveaway, though." Jeno pointed out as a matter of fact.
"I told you, she lacks sensibility in her head." He bobbed his head to the side, her innocence beginning to tick him off as his questions piled up with no answers.
"Damn. That's tough." Renjun commented, pitying humans for their lack of intelligence.
Donghyuck exhaled deeply, at last spinning to face his friends, who all had their eyes fixated on him.
"She is actually annoying- annoyingly stupid at that." He remarked, leaning on the metal bars as he stared at the skies that were painted in a darker shade of blue with strokes of moonlight that peeked beneath the rising moon as the evening came to an end.
"What do you expect from humans?" Rulin chuckled.
Donghyuck fiddled with the silver rings on his finger, frustrated with the girl who crossed his mind every now and then.
"Does your father know about this?" Jeno asked, making the siblings fall silent as they shared a quick look, knowing he messed up.
Donghyuck darted his eyes from the sky to Jeno, narrowed eyes glaring at the male, unwavering gaze boring holes into Jeno at the underlying taunt laced with the question, and Jeno raised his hands in the air, defensively.
"My bad." He muttered, praying he did not have a ball of fire already aimed at his face.
"I'm out for hunting."
That was all Donghyuck let out before placing a hand on the metal bar and swinging himself off the rooftop, hastily teleporting elsewhere.

Mark opened the door to his house and was immediately met with his mother rushing towards him, bombarding him with questions left and right.
"What was the call about?"
"Explain everything in detail. I'm lost."
"Where did you see it?"
"Who found it?"
"God, let him in first!" Minseok cut in with eyes on his phone as he slumped on the couch, and Mark mumbled a 'thanks' under his breath when he was finally allowed to step foot in without the elder hindering his path.
Miyoung, his mother, watched as her son hung his car keys on the keyboard without any explanation, and she grabbed his arm, forcefully dragging him and seating him on the couch.
"Explain. Now." Miyoung demanded as his father also joined them by the sofa, wondering what his wife was up to.
"Is it about some feather and shit?" Minseok laughed lightheartedly, but when his father shot him a glare, he quickly pressed his lips tight.
Mark sighed, almost regretting his call out of haste, "I'm not sure, but I think I saw a black feather that almost resembled the one displayed at the Grand Serenity Museum." He said, finally breaking it to his curious parents, and they shared a look.
"Where did you find it, hun?" Miyoung asked with worry evident in her tone as she took his hands in hers.
"I did not find it." Mark assured though he was unaware why his mother was concerned, "My classmate happened to have it with her. I don't know any further details." He raised his shoulder cluelessly.
Myunsoo, his father, grew curious, "Can we meet her?" He asked.
Mark looked at both of them, confused, "May I ask why?"
The weird exchanges of looks and tense atmosphere easily gave away that Mark was dealing with a matter that weighed more than just words, and it piqued his curiosity.
"It's something evil.. a long story, Mark." Myungsoo replied vaguely.
Black feather. Grand Serenity Museum. Evil.
Mark was quick to connect the dots.
"Is this about Elytra?"
what do we think of the storyline so farrrr
so many things to unpack ahhh I love the suspense ;)
