Lee Donghyuck.
His name presented so casually in her mind, almost growing accustomed to him, so much so that it did not take her more than a mere second to recognize his voice, and she did not know if that was necessarily a good sign.
She grew acquainted with a demon.
Jiyeon did not move a muscle, feet rooted in the spot as her eyes lingered ahead, but her mind was filled with him, and fear crawled in subsequently.
Is he gonna kill me?
Oh god, someone save me!
Her gaze shifted down onto both his hands on either side of her, slender fingers impatiently tapping the metal bar for any reply from her at all, but she fell short of them, quite speechless. His veins popped beneath his melanin skin before they were concealed under the rolled-up sleeves of the white shirt that sat near his elbow.
This can't be my last day- I can't die like this!
Nanny is going to be all alone- no, no, stop it.
The silence was so deafening, and his palm, which was curled around the railing, tightened visibly due to her lack of response, and a sharp exhale clearly showed that he had begun to get annoyed by her.
Breathe. She closed her eyes, taking in a quick breath of air.
Jiyeon, let's be optimistic―
"Alright, I will take that as a yes then." His hands let go of the railing like he had made up his mind, and she felt a surge of apprehension rush through her body.
―fuck being optimistic.
Jiyeon quickly decided to break the everlasting stillness, interrupting before he could say or, even worse, do something in the blink of an eye.
"No- wait, wait!" She cut in quickly, turning on her heel to face him, and she could not help but take note of his appearance―dishevelled, long, raven hair that whipped to the air, pools of crimson twirling in his eyes that held anticipation and a soft smirk that expressed his eagerness to play around with her.
The top few buttons of his white shirt were left hanging, exposing his collarbones where the silver chain dangled, swaying as he moved and the rather oversized shirt that was messily tucked into his black jeans that hugged his long legs.
His back was hunched, bringing his face to her height, though they did not share much of a difference, and she lightly jerked her head away to create more distance.
"Are you really going to kill me?" She questioned, biting the inside of her cheek.
Donghyuck dropped his right hand from the railing and moved her hair, which fell down her shoulder to her back, exposing her neck as his eyes trained on them hungrily.
Don't kill me. Don't kill me. Don't kill me.
"I could effortlessly drain every drop of blood from your body before you even realise." He taunted as his fingers traced the anterior of her neck before halting on her clavicle with eyes flickering back to her almond-shaped ones that were screwed close tightly.
I'm dying. I'm dying. I'm dying.
"But what's the fun in that, hm?" His hands left her skin, and she batted her eyelids, unsure of how to receive his words.
Oh?
"I.. uh, don't know if that's good or bad." She uttered softly as her fragile tone trailed through the air.
He chuckled, straightening his back as he stood upright.
"Shall I enlighten you on how I plan to kill―"
"No, no!" She squirmed uncomfortably at the thought of her own death, and the possibility of it slowly began sinking into her head.
A small smile crawled on his lips at the sight of the girl in terror, and she felt goosebumps rise on her skin, eyes roaming anywhere except him, refusing to acknowledge his presence.
"Look, I know you want to kill me and―"
"Get to the point." He spat, narrowing his gaze on her as he harshly cut her rambles, and she gulped anxiously, cutting to the chase.
"Why do you want to kill me?" She spilled the question that gnawed her mind oh-so-often.
His lips, which were once tugged into a smirk, dropped to a thin line, stern and stoic in a flash as his eyes pierced into hers, and she could not help but feel small under his gaze.
"Was I not clear enough?" His voice dropped low, devoid of any mockery.
Jiyeon moved away, though she had no more space to go back, the absolute fear that overtook her senses surfaced, and her spine was pinned against the cold metal rod, chilling eerie swish of air encircling her.
"Cause I can see you.." She mumbled in a hush laced with fright.
His red eyes glowered as his hand jabbed at her chin, forcing her to stare into his eyes as he dipped his head down to her.
Jiyeon clutched the railing behind her tightly, her fingers slightly gracing his, which lay on either side of her, as she forced her gaze to meet his intimidating one.
"Are you a half-blood?" Donghyuck asked in search of any answers, but she stayed tight-lipped, shaking her head in dismissal.
"Speak." He demanded.
"I- I don't know what you are talking about." She hurriedly explained herself, not wishing to provoke him.
"There is no possibility of you being able to see a demon unless.." Donghyuck broke off in scrutiny like he was coming to some sort of a conclusion or perhaps an assumption.
"Unless?" She could not help but blurt out of curiosity and distress that began consuming her fogged mind.
"Unless you are one of us."
Her lips parted in shock, and his own twisted into a cynical smile as he dropped both his hands to his side and stepped back, disappearing out of her sight in a heartbeat.
ohhh what do we thinkkk 👀
