Malevolent.

On the rooftop stood the nefarious figure with hands in the pockets of his jeans, spine straight, and head held high with gratification that stemmed from entitlement as the world's most feared being.

The most dreaded, ruthless figure that was spoken of by humans as a nightmare is Satan's son, Lee Donghyuck, the future ruler of the underworld. Devil's deadliest spawn. Diabolic. Nefarious.

The bolt of lightning travelled through the gloomy dark skies, the snap of it reaching the listeners a split second later, and his fiendish black wings were exposed under the moonlight, high in the air as feathers ruffled while his deep red eyes fluttered at the view directly ahead.

The beige curtains swayed, revealing the girl who was soundly sleeping in her room.

"Interesting." The corner of his lips tugged up as his eyebrow with a silver ring at the end of the curve raised amusedly.

Just as he spun around on his heels, a puff of black smoke encapsulated him and soon revealed three familiar faces who greeted him with the brightest grin.

"Found ya!" Rulin exclaimed in relief as she jumped onto the railing of the rooftop and spread her arms with closed eyes as the crisp wind breezed her warm skin.

"Careful, Lin." Renjun uttered to his sister, his eyes occasionally flickering onto the younger just to make sure she was safe in his sight.

"Welcome back to Earth. How did it go, Hyuck?" Jeno asked while stuffing his hands in his pocket and letting his eyes roam the location he had not been to before.

"Not bad." Donghyuck shrugged nonchalantly, "I missed it more than I thought." He added with a smirk, recalling his memories when he roamed the streets with no care.

Donghyuck possessed superiority, preying on the vulnerable humans when unaccompanied-tearing their skin to their bones, fresh viscous blood filling his veins that streamed with pleasure and an eternal desire forevermore.

Known for his brutality and dominance. He exuded confidence and imbued fear with every step he took. No soul dared to look him in the eye, dreading the consequences of the devil.

A sinister smirk, ravishing red eyes, elegant yet deadly pit black wings that flaunted on his broad, built back and his soft hair locks that camouflaged in the dead of night.

"What, did you confront one of those hideous angels?" Rulin chuckled as she began tip-toeing along the metal bar with a smile dancing on her lips.

"I wish. That would have been fun." Donghyuck chuckled, "I just scared off some humans. Did not hunt, though." He said languidly.

"For fucks sake." Renjun groaned at his sister's restless antics, unable to focus on the conversation.

"Shut up, let her be." Donghyuck defended and turned his back on them, staring elsewhere.

Jeno, however, upon noticing Renjun's concern, walked over to Rulin and extended an arm out in her direction, allowing her to hold onto him while hopping around like a child playing in the playground.

"Should have gone hunting to kill time." Jeno replied, and Renjun nodded, "Oh, how I love the look of fear on these low lives." He reminisced as satisfaction crept into his body.

"Anyway, back to the point. Spill. I'm impatient as fuck." Rulin cut in, turning over to face Donghyuck with eyes that screamed 'spill-the-tea-or-you-are-dead'.

"Did you come across these mortals who can see this-" Donghyuck paused to point at himself, his true self, "-with their naked eyes?" His question made them all pause in place.

"What?" Renjun and Rulin uttered in unison.

"No, never. They only spot us once we reveal ourselves." Jeno shook his head on their behalf.

"That isn't even possible. It shouldn't be." He strongly denied it, but the lack of change in Donghyuck's expression made him raise his eyebrows up to hairline in dubiousness.

"Well, I found one." Donghyuck announced, and all of their eyes widened in bafflement.

"No fucking way." Renjun waved a hand in the air, dismissing his claims.

Donghyuck raised a hand to point at the house opposite to the one they stood at, his finger particularly aimed at the room on the first floor, and when looked closely, it was a girl who was sleeping on her bed.

"Her?" Rulin asked, puckering her brows to get a better look at the girl.

"Are you like a little demon stalker now?" Jeno laughed, throwing a mindless joke amidst the tense atmosphere.

Renjun shook his head, "Bad timing." And Jeno pursed his lips shut in acceptance.

"She spotted me in broad daylight when I didn't even reveal myself." Donghyuck explained, tilting his head as he wondered how she had once such ability to do so.

"Is she hot?" Rulin asked out of curiosity with a teasing grin on her lips.

Donghyuck shrugged with not much thought to it, "She's naive, though, and dense as fuck. She thinks I'm one of them."

"Are you going to kill her?" Jeno asked blatantly since mortals were nothing more than mere sources of food and pleasure to demons.

"No shit. Look at him staring at her like she's a prey." Rulin remarked.

"That, she is." Donghyuck's eyes bored into her figure, which was vaguely visible from where he stood.

"So, go on then. I would not deny fresh human blood as a sweet late-night snack." Renjun urged in expectancy, and Rulin nodded, equally excited.

"What about the fact that she can see us? Do you not want answers?" Jeno sprung in before Satan's son would make any impulsive decisions.

"Most definitely. She seems fun to play around with for a while." A soft smirk etched onto his face.

Rulin's shoulders slouched in disappointment, "No late-night snack then? Fine." She mumbled and gripped Jeno's hand securely before jumping back down, finally allowing Renjun to breathe in peace.

"Is she a half-blood, perhaps?" Jeno speculated the possibility, but all he got was silence, as the truth was unknown.

"And how exactly are you plotting her murder?" Renjun chimed in, elevated at the sheer thought of killing those with a beating heart.

Donghyuck felt a tug at his lips at the thoughts that surfaced in his mind, yearning to infuse terror rushing through her veins, dread creeping every ounce of her body.

"Nice and slow until she wishes to have never seen me in the first place."
