It was bittersweet when Leo, Tobey, Penelope, and me when to the local carnival. It usually showed up when the school year was fast approaching. Even thought it was still July, we would be back to classes in early August. Leo held my hand after slamming his car door, us going up to the grand entrance. It was still light out, since we had gotten there around 6 o'clock.

"So, what do you want to do first," I wondered as I looked over at Leo.

It was adorable how Penelope and Tobey's hands were interlocked too. I knew they were still growing their relationship, but I could already tell they had a good chance of staying together.

"You want to go on the rides before or after we eat," Leo checked as his ocean eyes met with mine.

"I think before, so that they don't make me sick," I admitted.

"Alright, what about that roller coaster over there? Or the octopus?"

"I've always been too scared to go on that last one." It made me nervous just looking at how all the huge legs spun people around in their round enclosures.

"It's not that bad, especially if you haven't eaten yet. You sure you don't want to try it?" I could feel my hesitance seeping in, but I eventually nodded.

"I can give it a shot."

He grinned at me, giving me a light peck on the lips before we stepped into the line. It was just my luck that we were somehow the next group to board. Penelope was already smiling widely as Tobey and her found their seats. I wished that I felt as confident as they did. Once we were inside and strapped in I took a deep breath, automatically searching for something to hold onto when it started up. Leo noticed and offered his hand, our fingers intertwined as we rolled faster into motion. I closed my eyes at first, but it was only making me feel worse, so I chanced to open them, and somehow I ended up giggling the entire duration. I leaned against Leo as I continued to rest my palm against his. Once we came to a complete stop we got out and found our friends.

"That was actually pretty fun," I laughed a little. "I got so many butterflies in my tummy from that."

"I told you it wasn't that bad," Leo sweetly smiled, Tobey directing us over to a dinosaur roller coaster. Once we had found our seats in pairs, I could hear Penelope talking behind us.

"Isn't this a kids' ride," she lightly teased Tobey. I was able to turn my head just enough to tell that his face had turned bright red.

"Oh yeah. I wondered why it was so small," he nervously chuckled.

"That's okay. It just means we don't have to worry about big drops or anything. Hey, do you guys want to go on the ferris wheel last? That way it would be dark out, and we could see the whole carnival lit up."

"Yeah, that does sound really nice," I agreed, the boys seeming to be in agreement on it too.

It was refreshing to be whizzing along the tracks, since the air helped to cool us off. The humidity had been strong the past week, and I could tell we were in for a muggy night. Eventually we found a bigger roller coaster, but all of us were having trouble walking afterwards. We didn't expect the drop to be so high, and it went on longer than the previous rides.

"Come on! Let's go on the bumper cars, Tobey," Penelope piped up, grabbing his arm as she dragged him in that direction. Leo and I followed them too, us just ramming into each other as we went along the track.

"I usually don't like bumper cars, but this is so much fun," I exclaimed, giggling when we surprised Tobey again. He was annoyed that their bright green car was having trouble turning, our yellow one working like a dream. I laughed when Leo bumped into them right before all the cars stopped moving, everyone exiting the area.
