When the day of Brad's party arrived I put my neon yellow swimsuit on underneath my regular outfit. I went ahead and just went with a light orange, accordion skirt that went to right above my knees and a white t-shirt. I didn't want to wear anything fancy, since I would probably be wearing my swimsuit most of the time anyway. I also stuck with my white sandals, so I wouldn't have to change my shoes later, taking a deep breath as I tied my straightened, golden blonde hair into a high ponytail. It was already sagging, but I just left it as I hurried outside to join Leo in his car. Tobey and Penelope were in the backseat, so I was able to be on the passenger side. I kept staring out the window as I kept my arms crossed the entire drive, none of us saying anything. I think Tobey had complained to Leo beforehand, because Leo kept tensing up his jaw like he was annoyed as he focused on the road. We finally found parking near the big house, the amount of cars surprising to me. Once we all stepped out Leo put his blue tinted sunglasses on and swung his arm over my shoulders. I wasn't sure if he was trying to show off or what, because he didn't seem as affectionate as usual. It was like he was walking in with me for a big show.

"Hey, you guys made it," Brad grinned as he stepped forward from the front porch.

"Yeah, is the party outside only," Leo checked.

"Pretty much. Everyone's situated out back by the pool, but you're allowed inside too. I mean, that's where the bathrooms are."

Leo nodded before our group headed towards the wooden gate that led to the pool. I stepped closer to his side as we were faced with everyone. I was feeling more shy than usual as my eyes drifted down to my white painted toes.

"You want something to drink? There's plenty of stuff on that table over there, and some chips and crackers and dip, if you're hungry," Brad added as he showed us everything.

I went straight for the big, glass bowl of lemonade, the ice already melting as the sun rose higher into the sky. I put it inside my yellow, plastic solo cup as Penelope went for the pink lemonade. Tobey was just sticking to water, while Leo was trying the green punch. I scrunched my face up after taking a sip, wondering why they had used so many lemons in it. I think Penelope had a similar reaction as she drifted over to me.

"Wow, this is strong," she breathed as Leo already left us to talk to Brad.

"I know. It kind of burns my throat too," I winced.

"Is your water okay, Tobey," Penelope checked with her boyfriend.

"Yeah, but it's that gross kind, where they try to add minerals, but then it gets a funny taste because of it."

"I can't believe Leo hasn't said a single word to me yet," I mentioned as we glanced over at the blonde who was animatedly talking with other guys.

"He got pretty mad at me on the way over," Tobey confessed. "I kept going on about why we shouldn't go to this party, and he almost kicked me out of the car. The only reason he didn't was because we were on your road already, and he didn't want to leave me out in the country."

I nodded before trying my drink again before deciding that I couldn't stand the taste anymore. Penelope followed my lead as we poured it out into the grass before tossing our cups into the bin. Even Tobey did the same with his water, and we just stood together like we were out of place.

"I think I'm starting to feel a little better now," I spoke up after a few minutes. "My nerves are starting to settle, and it looks kind of fun to go swimming."

"Yeah, I was starting to think the same thing," Penelope agreed. "You want to find a place to put our clothes, so we can just wear our bathing suits now?"

"Yeah, I bet Brad would have a spot in the house."

"I think I'm going to see what Leo's up to while you two do that," Tobey told us before walking off.
