I couldn't be happier when Penelope confirmed that her date with Tobey went well. They were starting to get wrapped up in each other, so it was convenient when my parents invited Leo to go to the circus with us. Tobey and Penelope didn't feel left out, since they were going to the park to spend the day together. I went ahead and put on a white tank top with tiny, red flowers all over it with thin, green stems, pairing that with light blue jean shorts, and a pair of white sneakers. I went ahead and straightened my golden blonde hair, pairing it with a solid red headband, my wispy bangs still sticking out. I smiled widely when Leo got into the backseat of the car, since my parents were just picking him up on the way.

"Hey, I really like your shirt," I automatically said as he buckled in.

"Thanks," he lowly chuckled. "It's just a yellow t-shirt, but I'm glad you like it."

"Yellow's my favorite color, remember?"

"Yeah, I could never forget," he fondly reacted, my mom speaking up for a moment.

"Hi, Leo. Are you looking forward to the circus?"

"Yeah, I haven't been to one since I was like a little kid. Thanks again for inviting me to come with you guys."

"Of course! We knew that McKenna would want you along, and we wanted to get to know you better too. I hope you're not too hungry, since we plan on having dinner after the show."

"I'm alright. I might get a snack there during the break if I get hungry," he softly chuckled.

"Well, the food's on us during this trip, so just let us know if you do end up at the snack bar."

"You really don't have to pay for me. I brought some money."

"Nonsense. We're happy to do this, so don't worry about it."

"Alright," he finally caved, looking over at me with an amused expression. "I really like your outfit too, McKenna." He faintly blushed, which I thought was adorable despite it making my own face turn a bit rosy from the compliment too.

"Thank you. I had to remind myself that I don't have to wear yellow all the time," I slightly laughed.

"You wore red on the 4th of July, right? That's not yellow." I thought it was sweet how he remembered what color I wore that holiday.

"That's true. I guess I'm hooked on red too, because my outfit does have red in it again today." I was looking down at my top even though the color was subtle in it.

"That's alright. You look good in anything you wear."

"That's what I told you the other night," I reminded him as I smiled faintly.

"Well, it's true for you too. What are you looking forward to the most at the circus?"

"Maybe the trapeze artists. I'm always so amazed by the stunts they can do. What about you?" I looked over at him as he thought for a moment.

"I think I'm just looking forward to the show overall," he softly chuckled.

"You want to get something to drink before it starts? They have great slushies there."

"Oh, um, no, I'll be alright," he claimed, but I could tell he had glanced at my parents for a brief second.

"It's really no problem. My parents meant it when they said they would pay for you today," I urged, not wanting him to feel like he couldn't have a good time.

"Alright," he sighed quietly. "What flavors do they have?"

"They have so many, so I would have to look at the menu."
