Tobey and Penelope had the idea of us going to the drive-in restaurant before it closed after summer. Even though it would be open for a bit after school started up, we had no idea how long that would last, since they closed when they ran out of food. We decided to dine outside at a round, painted red metal table, one of the waitresses coming out to take our orders. I decided on a tenderloin with tomato, mayonnaise, and fries while Leo went with two chili hotdogs and nacho cheese chips. Penelope got a cheeseburger with ketchup and pickles with french fries, while Tobey just went with two hotdogs with ketchup and nachos too. Leo and I hadn't properly talked since the party, but I just couldn't find the right moment to bring it up. I knew it was probably his responsibility to speak up first, but I also knew it hadn't been a day most of us would want to recall. We just ate in silence for awhile as we all sipped on our Root Beers that we got in ice cold mugs.

"So, does your school start up the same time ours does," Tobey asked me.

"I think it's only a week earlier," I admitted. "Which means that this upcoming Monday is when I'm going back."

"Sorry. We still have another week off."

"It's okay." I went back to dipping my fries in my ketchup before he spoke up again.

"I guess that means you get out a week early too though."

"Yeah, unless we get a bunch of snow days." I slightly laughed before taking a sip of my drink. I looked over at Leo, since he hadn't been acting like himself. I pressed my lips together as we finally locked eyes, forcing a weak smile.

"It's a really nice day out today," Penelope piped up, sensing the tension.

"Yeah, there are no clouds at all," Tobey observed as they both gazed upwards past the awning.

"So, are we still going to walk around the park after this," I questioned, glancing over at Leo who was sticking his tongue against the inside of his cheek.

"Yeah, that's still the plan," Penelope confirmed, her own smile seeming forced.

Once we were finished with our food we went straight to the park, walking along the path, but Penelope and Tobey purposely went ahead of us.

"I already talked to Tobey about what happened at the party," Leo spoke up after a couple of minutes.

"Oh," I reacted, not sure what else to say.

"I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, McKenna. I talked to Tobey first, because I was nervous about talking to you. I thought you might still be mad at me." He ran his hand through his blonde strands, before it fell perfectly back into place.

"I wasn't mad, just... I wished you had listened to us when we said we didn't think the party was a good idea."

"Yeah, but you didn't know anything about Brad."

"No, but Tobey and Penelope did, and they knew there would probably be spiked drinks. Didn't you know that?"

He pursed his lips as a guilty expression crossed his face, causing my stomach to drop. "I didn't think he would spike everything there."

"But you let all of us drink whatever we wanted. You didn't check on the drinks first."

"How was I supposed to know what he messed with?"

"But you kept drinking it! I saw you had a second cup when Penelope and I found you again."

"It was good, and I wasn't hurting anybody."

"You hurt all of us! You allowed us to drink that nasty stuff!"

"I didn't think it would be that strong, and I saw Tobey take the water, so I figured that would be safe, and he could drive us home."
