Artius was nervous. He had woken up early and had taken to pacing around his room, thinking of what he was going to say. He was going to be told whether or not they were willing to attempt to secure access to an Everything Machine for him to use.
He knew it could be very dangerous. He wouldn't blame them if they had decided to disallow it. Having to get that close to this New Galaxy couldn't be the easiest thing in the universe. But... he needed one somehow.
There was the option of Eclipse still. Artius wasn't sure if he should bring up that possibility or if that might be a bad idea. While it did seem they all trusted Eclipse to be on their side of this fight, did that mean they would let him help in this degree?
There was the potential Eclipse could be fooling them all and wasn't actually on their side. As much as Artius didn't like that thought, it was one he had considered. This could be a setup.
Artius was startled out of his thoughts by a caw. Oscar had landed on his shoulder and practically screeched into his ear.
"I'm overthinking this too much, aren't I?" Artius sighed. "Do you think they'll be up?"
Oscar seemed to shrug at his question. Artius sighed and left his room. The halls were quiet. It was still quite early. They hadn't even had breakfast yet.
He just couldn't keep waiting for this answer. He needed to know now what was going to happen. Needed to plan for what to do next. There was not time to waste in figuring out whatever they could.
Artius made his way quietly to the office. He saw a light on and hesitantly knocked on the closed door.
"Who is it?" Tsang's voice came from the other side.
"Artius. May I... come in?"
"Of course."
Artius opened the door and stepped into the room. He closed the door behind him and took a seat on the other side of the desk.
"I suppose you're here to know what we decided about your request?" Tsang said.
Artius nodded. "Yes. That is correct. I'd like to know so I can plan my next actions. I have a bad habit of needing to plan things in advance like this. I apologize."
"No bother." Tsang waved off his concern. "As for the answer, there is nowhere around us that seems very easy to get inside. It is far too risky."
"I understand. It is a lot to ask." Artius replied.
"If we think of another option, I'll be sure to-"
Artius cut him off. "I do have another suggestion."
Tsang raised his eyebrows. "Oh? Do tell."
"Eclipse is in charge of taking care of me, so to speak. If he gets a signal of my whereabouts, would he not have to come find me? He has access to one. Perhaps he might be able to pull some strings for us." Artius said.
Tsang was silent for a while as he thought over the suggestion. "Well, I suppose it doesn't hurt to at least ask him. And if he can't help, maybe he knows a way to get access elsewhere."
"So, you're willing to attempt that?" Artius asked.
Tsang nodded. "Yes. On the condition you bring backup."
"Of course. I would have asked for aid. Just in case he has to bring a friend with him."
"Then that is settled. After breakfast, we'll talk at the meeting about the details."
"Thank you."
...
As promised, after breakfast, they had their usual morning debriefing. After the necessities were covered, Tsang started on the new mission they were taking on.
