Chapter 14: Dark On Me

"So... Nil and Maxi have given us an update."

Tsang had called a meeting the next day. His tone was tense. Everyone could tell that something was wrong. There was a heavy silence in the air as they waited for him to continue.

Tsang took in a deep breath. "The town was supplicated entirely and the New Galaxy took everyone before they arrived."

"We kind of figured that would happen." Jae said. "Did something else happen?"

"Yes." Tsang nodded. "They were working with some unofficial rebels to get where they needed to go and... while exploring the town, their allies met unfortunate ends at the hands of CAs."

There was silence that followed his words. Everyone was staring at his with wide eyes. It was a lot to process.

"CAs are just... killing lifeforms now?" Carlito said quietly.

"It seems they may have decided supplication isn't for everyone."

"What are they doing now?" Nico asked.

"Going back to finding Miron."

"What are we doing for the time being?" Raffael asked. "We can't just keep sitting around, right?"

"I have more bad news."

"Is it Noval?"

"No. Actually, the GRF got a report that a planet in the Equuleus sector is reporting mass murder of civilians." Tsang said with a quiet tone. "We're already heading there as we speak."

"Murder must be in the air." ALIVA said. "We have no idea why this chief is doing this, but it may be orders from Solstice for all we know."

"What's the chief's name? Do we know?"

"Auro." Tsang replied. "She's not very nice to those she rules over to begin with."

"Let's go kick her ass and save those lifeforms." Jae cracked her knuckles. "I could use a punching bag."

"We should be there in five minutes." ALIVA stated. "Be ready."

"We're all going due to the nature of this." Tsang said. "Zack, I would like if you could remain here in case we get any other transmissions. ALIVA can show you how to use some of the controls right now."

"Okay..." Zack nodded and went up to ALIVA.

ALIVA started teaching him the basic controls he would need to know of something came in. It was obvious Zack was still upset over not being able to fight with them. Unfortunately, one training session was nowhere near enough. He was hardly ready to go back out on the battlefield.

"Commander. What do we do with the deceased after we handle this chief?" Amable asked.

"The GRF will be sending help to clean up. Just see what they want you do to afterwards, I suppose. Maybe they'll give me instructions. Who knows." Tsang shrugged. "Focus on one thing at a time."

"Alright." Amable nodded.

"We're entering orbit of the planet. Prepare for descent." ALIVA called.

Within the next minute, everyone but Zack was flying down to the planet. They landed in an open field not far from the town the reports had come from. They could see the New Galaxy ship towering over the town from where they stood.

"Let's go." Tsang stated. "Jae, Nico, Carlito, ALIVA, run ahead and scout the situation. The rest of us will stay a few paces behind and bring up the rear."

"Understood!"

The four of them rushed forward toward the town. The rest of them -Tsang, Raffael, Oliver, and Amable- trailed behind. They kept an eye out on the land around them. It wasn't that unlikely that their vehicles had been spotted landed. If Auro had been paying any attention, she may be sending soldiers their way right now.
