The following morning was unusually calm for TWICE. The group was enjoying a rare day off between their packed schedule of tours and appearances. The sun filtered through the hotel windows, casting a warm glow over the room where the members sat scattered across the couches, engrossed in their own activities.
Sana sat beside Jihyo, pretending to scroll through her phone, but her thoughts were elsewhere—on her conversation with Tzuyu the night before. It had been reassuring, knowing they were on the same page. But now, the idea of telling the others weighed on her mind. Who should they talk to first? Would everyone really understand?
As she debated in her head, she noticed that Tzuyu was sitting on the opposite side of the room, casually chatting with Dahyun and Chaeyoung. Their eyes met briefly, and for a split second, Sana felt a rush of warmth—an unspoken promise between them. But as quickly as the moment came, it was gone, and Sana was left to wrestle with her nerves.
Momo’s words from the previous day echoed in her mind: *“Make sure you’re both on the same page.”*
She sighed inwardly. It was one thing to have Momo know about them—Momo, with her supportive nature and carefree attitude—but telling the others felt like a completely different challenge.
Nayeon, for one, would definitely have questions. And Jeongyeon... well, Sana wasn’t sure how Jeongyeon would react. The thought made her stomach churn with anxiety.
But then she felt someone sit down next to her, and when she looked up, it was Mina.
“Hey,” Mina said quietly, offering a gentle smile. “You seem distracted.”
Sana smiled back, though it didn’t reach her eyes. Mina always had this way of reading her, of knowing when something was on her mind. “Yeah, just thinking about a lot of things.”
Mina nodded, not pressing her for more, but her gaze lingered, clearly sensing that something was going on. “If you need to talk, I’m here.”
Sana bit her lip, her heart pounding. This was it—an opportunity to confide in someone else, someone she trusted deeply. But the words seemed stuck in her throat, too heavy to speak.
Mina waited patiently, her expression calm and understanding. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Sana took a deep breath and spoke.
“Mina... what would you do if someone you cared about had a secret? A really big one, but they weren’t sure how to tell everyone else?”
Mina tilted her head slightly, her eyes narrowing in thought. “I guess it would depend on the secret. But if it was someone I cared about, I’d want them to feel comfortable enough to tell me when they were ready. Why?”
Sana hesitated, her heart racing. She wanted so badly to just say it, to let the truth out, but fear held her back. What if things changed after she told Mina? What if everything became too complicated?
But before she could say anything more, a voice interrupted them.
“Hey, what are you two whispering about?”
It was Nayeon, standing in front of them with her hands on her hips, her expression playful but curious.
Sana’s heart leaped into her throat. “Oh, nothing,” she said quickly, her voice a little too high-pitched. “Just talking.”
Nayeon raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. “Uh-huh. Sure.”
Mina shot Sana a reassuring glance before turning to Nayeon with a soft smile. “Just girl talk.”
Nayeon sighed dramatically, plopping down next to them. “Well, I’m bored. What’s going on? Anyone have plans for today?”
The conversation shifted, and Sana let out a silent breath of relief. But the moment lingered in her mind. How long could she keep avoiding this? She didn’t want to hide forever, and Mina’s calm, understanding presence gave her hope that maybe, just maybe, the others would accept it too.
