The next morning, sunlight trickled through the wooden-framed windows of the Airbnb, casting a soft glow across the bed. I woke up slowly, blinking against the light, my mind groggy from the lack of sleep. After staying up until 2am with Leo and Spoke, I felt like I hadn't slept at all, but the excitement of being in Japan was enough to pull me out of bed.
I rolled out of bed, still feeling groggy as I grabbed my phone. I could already hear the others chatting in the common area, and from the sound of it, Derap was setting up equipment—probably getting ready for today's stream.
As I entered the living room, the smell of fresh coffee hit me. Derap was busy with the camera, as expected, while Rekrap sat at the table, towel-drying his hair after what had to be a much-needed shower. Jumper was lounging on the couch, already looking way too awake for someone who stayed up as late as we did.
"Morning, sleepyhead," Jumper greeted with a teasing grin.
"Morning," I mumbled, heading straight for the coffee machine. "What's happening?"
"We're streaming later," Jumper said, clearly trying to suppress a smirk. "We're dressing Rek."
"Dressing Rek?" I raised an eyebrow, glancing over at him. "What does that mean?"
"Oh, it means exactly what it sounds like," Rek said, sighing dramatically. "They're making me go shopping, picking out outfits. And, of course, it's all going to be on stream."
I couldn't help but laugh. The idea of us picking out outfits for Rek to wear was golden, especially knowing how much he didn't care about fashion and only wore the same outfits every day.
"We're thinking something bold," Jumper said with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. "Maybe Harajuku style or something super over-the-top."
"Or something different, like a raulph Lauren," Derap added from behind the camera, his voice laced with amusement. "The chat's going to eat it up."
Rek groaned again, but I could see the humor in his eyes. "This is going to be a disaster."
"Oh, absolutely," I said with a grin. "But the best kind of disaster."
As I took a seat, sipping my coffee, I noticed that someone was missing. "Where's Spoke?" I asked casually.
Jumper and Rek exchanged a quick glance, which immediately made my stomach do a weird flip. It wasn't anything obvious, but there was definitely something there—like they knew something I didn't.
"Oh, Spoke's not coming today," Jumper said, her tone a little too casual. "But we were just talking about him earlier."
I felt my heartbeat quicken at the mention of his name. "Oh? What about him?"
Jumper leaned forward with a smirk. "Well, we were just wondering... what's going on with you two?"
My face immediately flushed, and I quickly looked down, trying to play it off. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean," she teased. "You two have been spending a lot of time together. Just friends, right?"
I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks, and I wished I could disappear into my coffee mug. "Of course, we're just friends," I muttered, though my voice probably didn't sound all that convincing.
"Uh-huh, sure," Rek said, leaning back in his chair with a grin. "Totally just friends."
I rolled my eyes, but my blush only deepened. "Look, it's not like that, okay? We're just... hanging out."
"Right," Jumper said, clearly not believing me. "So you don't have a crush on him?"
The question hit me like a ton of bricks. I stammered, trying to find the right words. "I... I don't know."
