The Land of Narnia~ Snowy Forest ~ Afternoon

"Come on. We don't want to be caught here after nightfall." He said, leading the way.

I looked around, in awe of the beautiful forest. I always loved exploring forests.

Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy looked around too, and we went in between two large rocks, and a doorway in front of us with—dare I say it—no door.

We walked for a while longer before Mr. Beaver's dam came into view.

"Ah! Blimey! Looks like the old girl's got the kettle on!" He exclaimed cheerfully. "Nice cup o' Rosy Lee."

We paused to double-take the view.

"It's lovely!" Lucy commented.

"Ah, it's merely a trifle, you know. Still penalty to do. Ain't quite finished yet. It'll look business when it is, though."

The seven of us walked up to the dam, and we heard a voice of another beaver outside of the dam.

"Beaver? Is that you?" The voice asked; it sounded female. With seven of us walking, we neared the corner of the house, which was getting closer to the voice.

"I've been worried sick. If I find out you've been with badger again—"

The second beaver came into view, a female, and she gasped dramatically, placing her paws over her mouth. Sammy yelped excitedly.

"Those aren't badgers..." she said, walking toward us. "Oh, I never thought I live to see this day!!" She added cheerfully. Then she turned to her husband.

"Look at my fur! You couldn't have given me a ten-minute-warning?"

"I'd give you a week if I thought it would have helped," Mr. Beaver said, shrugging his shoulders.

Peter, Susan, Lucy, and I burst out laughing, and of course, Sammy had to add to sarcastic comments.

"Look at my fur!!" Sammy commented.

We all laughed again. I started to feel at home again. But a wave of sadness rushed over me. My home is gone... as was my mother...gone...forever...

"Al, you all right?" Lucy asked lightly.

"Y-yeah. I'm okay." I replied, smiling.

Mrs. Beaver spoke. "Come inside, and we'll see if we can get you some food. And some civilized company." She lead us in the door.

Peter followed first, and after him came Susan and Lucy. I was behind Edmund, making sure all of us were together, and he stopped. He was looking at the mountains again. I followed his gaze and saw an ice castle. I felt a chill run down my back.

"We're on the same side; aren't we?" Mr. Beaver asked Edmund.

Edmund shrugged and still stared. Mr. Beaver went in, and I looked at Edmund.

"Come on, Ed. There's going to be food in the dam, and I'm sure you're hungry."

Edmund nodded. I grabbed his wrist and led him into the dam. Edmund suddenly grabbed my hand, and led me other to where his siblings where.

My heart sped up. And it felt a million times hotter.

"Al, are you all right? Your face is red." Lucy commented.

It felt on fire. And the fire going inside the fireplace didn't help. My hand flew to my face, and it felt hot.

"I'm fine. Just the-the change from the very cold air to the warm air... that's all." I replied, before sitting down in a chair at the table.
