The Land of Narnia ~ Aslan's Camp ~ Early Morning
The next morning, when the sun was just beginning to rise, I woke up from the sound of Narnians walking around, and swords clashing. I rubbed my eyes, and sat up. Sammy was at my feet, and he was sleeping.
I petted his head, and he yawned, and turned on his back, his paws up in the air. I tickled his stomach, and he woke up, jumping up.
"Al! What time in it?" He asked.
"Time for you to get a watch." I said sarcastically, smiling.
Sammy looked at his paw as he brought it up to his face, and he went cross-eyed.
"It wouldn't fit on my leg." He replied, putting his paw down.
"I suppose it wouldn't." I said. I got up, and I grabbed my quiver and bow. I walked out, and Sammy followed. Peter and Edmund were walking toward Aslan's camp which he had first appeared in.
"Ed! Pete!" I shouted to them. They turned around at the sound of their names.
"Yeah?" Peter asked.
"Did you guys sleep well?" I asked as I caught up to them.
"Good enough for today, I guess." Edmund said, smiling.
"Me too." Peter said.
"I slept like a dog!" Sammy spoke up.
"'Cause you are a dog." Edmund replied.
We shared a nervous laugh. We were very worried about the Battle coming up.
"Come on." Peter said, as he led us to the tent.

Peter walked out of Aslan's tent, a grim expression on his face.
"She's right." Peter said sadly. He leaned his fists on the table, in front of him, which had a map of Narnia laying across it, to support his weight. "He's gone."
Sammy whined sadly.
I looked at the map, studying it. I already knew that Aslan was dead. But, I guess, Peter didn't believe me, or the Dryad.
"I'm sorry, Al. I just wanted to make sure." Peter spoke up to me, as though reading my mind. "You've never told a lie before."
"It's okay." I replied, and stroked Sammy's fur behind his ears, his favourite place to be scratched.
Edmund was on Peter's right of the table. I was on his left. Edmund looked at Oreius, who was standing by us, then back at Peter.
"Then you'll have to lead us." Edmund spoke up. Peter looked up at him. I couldn't see his face, but by Edmund's eyes, Peter wasn't angry. He was just listening.
"Peter, there's an army out there and it's ready to follow you." Edmund added.
"I can't." Peter said.
"Aslan believed you could." Edmund said, as Peter turned his attention back to the map. "So do I."
"Me too." I said. There was a pause before I spoke again. "Peter, you've saved and protected us from the wolves twice. Why don't you think you can lead us?"
"I don't think I'm good enough." Peter replied. "I haven't had the experience like Aslan had."
"Well, this is your opportunity, Pete." Sammy said. "You better leave us. I can't stand the thought of surrendering to those wolves I fought against."
