The following days after her conversation with her parents, Engfa couldn’t shake the excitement that now filled her heart. The thought of proposing to Charlotte felt right—like the culmination of everything they’d been through, every struggle and every joy, leading them to this moment.

Engfa found herself thinking about how to make the proposal special, just like her parents had advised. She wanted it to be intimate, something that reflected their relationship—something that felt like *them*.

Late one evening, after a long day at work, Engfa found herself at the small garden at the family estate, the place she often visited when she needed to clear her mind. The soft glow of the garden lights illuminated the space, casting shadows over the flowers and trees.

This was where she had spent time with Charlotte before she left for her studies years ago. Back then, it was a place of childhood innocence, of moments shared when they were still trying to figure out their feelings for one another.

Suddenly, it hit her.

This was where it should happen. The garden held so much of their history. It was where Charlotte first began to feel at home in Engfa’s world. It was where they’d shared quiet moments, stolen glances, and where Engfa had first realized she was falling in love with Charlotte.

The garden was perfect.

Over the next few days, Engfa began putting her plan into motion. She wanted the evening to be special, but simple, just as they were. She arranged for a private dinner in the garden under the stars, with fairy lights strung up between the trees, casting a warm glow over the space. She enlisted the help of her mother to prepare a home-cooked meal—Charlotte’s favorite dishes, of course—and made sure everything was in place for the night she would ask the biggest question of her life.

As the evening approached, Engfa found herself growing more nervous than she’d expected. She was confident in her decision to propose, but the weight of the moment was beginning to sink in. What if Charlotte wasn’t ready? What if she didn’t feel the same?

Shaking the doubts from her mind, Engfa focused on what her heart knew to be true. She and Charlotte had been through so much together. They had faced challenges, and they had come out stronger. Their love had been tested, but it had endured. And that was what mattered.

The day of the proposal arrived faster than Engfa had expected. She spent the afternoon making sure everything was perfect—the lights, the food, the ambiance. It was everything she had envisioned, and she couldn’t wait for Charlotte to see it.

As the sun began to set, casting a soft pink and orange glow over the horizon, Engfa waited in the garden, her heart pounding in her chest. She had invited Charlotte over for what she had told her was a "special dinner." Little did Charlotte know just how special the night would be.

---

Charlotte arrived just as the sky had turned dark, her eyes widening in surprise as she took in the sight of the garden. The soft glow of the fairy lights, the beautifully set table, the flowers surrounding them—it was like something out of a dream.

"Engfa… what is this?" Charlotte asked, her voice filled with awe.

Engfa smiled, walking over to her, her heart swelling with love as she took Charlotte’s hand. "I wanted to do something special for you. For us."

Charlotte’s eyes sparkled as she looked around the garden, her lips curving into a soft smile. "It’s beautiful."

Engfa led Charlotte to the table, pulling out her chair for her before sitting down across from her. The evening was perfect, just as she had imagined. The two of them sat beneath the stars, enjoying the meal that Engfa had carefully prepared. They laughed, they reminisced, and they shared quiet moments of comfortable silence—just enjoying each other’s presence.

But as the dinner came to an end, Engfa’s nerves returned. She glanced down at her pocket, where the ring rested, waiting for the right moment. Her hands felt clammy, and her heart raced as she realized that the moment had come.

Taking a deep breath, Engfa stood up, walking over to Charlotte’s side of the table. Charlotte looked up at her, her expression curious.

"Engfa? Is something wrong?"

Engfa smiled, shaking her head. "No, nothing’s wrong. Everything’s perfect, actually."

With that, Engfa slowly dropped to one knee, pulling the small velvet box from her pocket. Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth as she realized what was happening.

"Charlotte," Engfa began, her voice steady but filled with emotion, "from the moment I met you, I knew you were special. Even when I didn’t show it, even when I pushed you away—I knew. You’ve changed my life in ways I can’t even begin to explain, and I can’t imagine my future without you in it."

Charlotte’s eyes were brimming with tears as she listened, her hand trembling as she reached out to touch Engfa’s cheek.

"I love you, Charlotte," Engfa continued, her voice softening. "I love you more than I ever thought I could love someone. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you, building a future together, facing whatever comes our way. Will you marry me?"

For a moment, there was nothing but silence. Engfa’s heart pounded in her chest as she waited for Charlotte’s response, the world around them fading into the background.

Then, finally, Charlotte nodded, a tearful smile breaking across her face. "Yes," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "Yes, Engfa, of course, I’ll marry you."

Engfa’s heart soared as she slipped the ring onto Charlotte’s finger, standing up and pulling her into a tight embrace. They held each other for what felt like forever, the weight of the moment settling in. They were going to spend the rest of their lives together.

As they stood beneath the stars, wrapped in each other’s arms, Engfa knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in their love story—a chapter that would be filled with even more love, growth, and happiness.

And in that moment, everything felt right.
