A Rainy Morning 🌧️

It had been three years since the war ended, and the paladins had gone their separate ways. Lance embraced the life of a farmer, living with his family, selling fresh produce in local shops (with Lance's smooth-talking charm, he could probably sell sand in the desert). Keith, with his mother and the blades, was dedicated to rebuilding civilizations and occasionally visited Earth. Pidge remained on Earth, aiding her father and Matt in technological innovations at the Galaxy Garrison. Hunk had become a professional chef, with Shay as his trusty sous-chef, traveling to different planets to resolve conflicts (because nothing says peace like a good meal). Shiro, happily married to Curtis, was busy training future pilots at the Garrison.

Lance's POV

I had just woken up. I glanced at the clock, "6 am," I mumbled to myself. No way I was getting back to sleep, so I decided to get up and start the day. I hopped into the shower, belting out "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira, and went through my meticulous skincare routine. After getting dressed in a white shirt, jeans, and a blue flannel, I peered out the bedroom window. It was a cloudy Friday morning, with rain on the horizon. Since my family was still snoozing, I figured I'd head downstairs, make a cup of coffee, and water the crops before the rain kicked in. Sounds like a plan, right?

I went downstairs feeling fresh, poured some hot water into the heater, and sipped on my coffee. I decided to check up on Kaltenecker and maybe have a chat. Pidge and I had found Kaltenecker in a local Earth shop at the Space Mall—don't ask how they got a cow in space (clearly, the cows of Earth are more advanced than we thought). "Good times," I chuckled to myself. "Hey, boy," I said, walking towards Kaltenecker. "Moo," he replied. "Yeah, me too." I headed to the strawberry fields to pick the ripe ones. As it started to drizzle, I thought, better get inside before it pours.

I went inside and saw my parents sitting at the kitchen table. "Oh hey," I greeted. "Hi Lance, up early today?" my mother asked. "Yeah, couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to pluck all the strawberries." "Ok, thanks." "You're welcome."

It was 7 am and I didn't have much to do, so I decided to watch some TV. By 8 am, everyone had come down for breakfast. The house was buzzing with the sound of kids. I joined my family for breakfast; we were having pancakes and honey. "First one to finish their breakfast gets to play with Uncle Lance's phone all day," my nephew screamed. "Hey!" "Silvio, please sit down," Lisa yelled. "You guys have fun; I'm off to the Garrison for work," Veronica announced. We all waved our goodbyes to Veronica.

Now that the sky was starting to clear and the rain was letting up, I decided to go out and work on the farm. After about an hour, I thought of taking a break, sitting in the juniberry fields... they always reminded me of Allura.

"You're still missing her, aren't you?" I turned around to see the source of the voice. It was my younger sister, Rachel.

"Hey Rachel," I greeted as she came over and sat beside me.

"You still remembering her?" she asked softly.

"Yeah," I answered quietly.

"I know it's really hard losing someone you love, but it's been three years now. You can't spend the rest of your life mourning over Allura. You should find someone else whom you'll love," she said with a slight smirk.

"Yeah, you're right," I agreed.

"Anyway, mom and dad want to talk to you about something," she said, getting up.

"Okay," I replied, following her back inside.

"Hey, Mom. You guys wanted to talk to me about something?" I asked.

"Yeah, your friend Hunk called. He was talking about some new invention and asked if you could stop by his restaurant tomorrow to talk," she replied.

"Oh yeah, I'll go around... in the evening?"

"Ok, just tell him that," she instructed.

"Yeah, I will," I said, smiling to myself. It had been a few months since I last met Hunk. He was probably busy with all the feasts, festivals, resolving conflicts, and building peace across the galaxy.
