Today was the day of the first event and I was nervous as hell. I was still angry about the argument that I had with Jesse as well as the fight I previously had with Ethan.

I woke up the girls and we changed into the green team shirts that Elease had made the night before. They were green t-shirts with black letters that spelled out the Green Team. There was a tiger in gold and black on the back with the words "Eye of the Tiger" under it.

"You know these aren't half bad." Courtney admitted.

I paused, sure that I had heard her wrong. There was no way that Courtney had just complimented Elease.

"Thanks." Elease beamed.

Wow, maybe I was a positive influence on these girls?

...

My campers and I met up with the other half of our team at the athletic fields where all of the other teams were. There was a big box like thing that took up the whole length of the football field that had high walls so we couldn't see what was inside. Jesse shot me a timid smile when he saw me that I returned before he mouthed the words "I'm sorry."

I nodded my head, forgiving him, and was startled when I felt two hands come over my eyes.

"Guess who?" A masculine voice whispered into my ears.

I raised an eyebrow. "It better be my boyfriend or we're going to have a problem."

The hands left my face and I turned around to see Ethan standing behind me with a huge teddy bear in his arms.

"I'm sorry for the way I acted yesterday Syd. I had no reason to talk to you like that and I know this doesn't make it ok but I got you this teddy bear. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." Ethan told me.

I beamed. "Of course I forgive you!"

Ethan set the bear down and grabbed me in a fierce hug. I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around him as the Irish soap smell that was Ethan flooded my nose. I opened my eyes and saw Jesse glaring at us. I shot him a look that said "you did this to us" before letting go of Ethan.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a figure approaching us. I turned and saw Alyssa heading our way. Her long hair was tied up in a ponytail, she had on a yellow team shirt, there were black paint lines under her-

Wait, she had on a yellow team shirt? I looked at Ethan and saw the same shirt on him and his campers. When Alyssa got to where we were standing she promptly slid an arm around Ethan's waist.

The hell?

"What are you wearing?" I monotoned.

Alyssa smirked. "Oh this?" She pointed at her shirt. "Unfortunately the other captain of the yellow team had to leave so I decided to step in and help."

"How nice." I lied and stared at her arm that was still around my boyfriend. What I meant to say was how convenient.

"Don't worry." Alyssa announced to the other teams. "I didn't create the events so my team won't have an unfair advantage. As you all know the first event is today and it's gonna be a maze. Each team will start out in a different part of the maze and will race to the middle by completing different obstacles. Once you reach the middle you have to be the first team to ring the bell there to win."

"May the best team win." Alyssa looked in my eyes.

Before I could say anything she and Ethan turned away and walked to the yellow team starting point. I did the same with my team.

"Are you guys ready?" Jesse asked once we saw the green flag that marked our starting point.

"Hell," John started to say.

"Yes." Ron finished.

We did a team high five just as the beginning horn sounded. Jesse and I ran forward, taking the lead. Soon we came to a split in the hallway. We both went right first and smiled at each other.

At least we're on the same page.

After a minute we came to our first obstacle. There was a puzzle that we had to complete in order to unlock the door that blocked our path. Sabrina stepped forward, being the one good with puzzles, and unlocked the door in 30 seconds flat.

We high fived again and continued on. The next obstacle was one dealing with endurance. There was an empty barrel with a tank filled with water next to it. There were a bunch of buckets next to the tank.

"Fill the barrel with the water in the tank using the buckets provided to unlock the door." I read the board that had instructions on it. We were all getting our buckets when I saw Elease standing off to the side picking her nails.

"What are you doing? Get your bucket." I said.

Elease rolled her eyes. "I don't really do manual labor. And besides, I already did my part for the team by making the t-shirts."

"If you don't help then I'm taking away your phone privileges." I exclaimed. Elease sighed and grabbed a bucket.

In no time we had opened the door. An hour later and we had opened the final door. I cheered when a big golden bell came in sight. My team and I rushed forward.

Suddenly a door opened next to the bell and the yellow team came through. I gritted my teeth when Alyssa saw us and launched herself at the bell.

I narrowed my eyes as a shrill ringing filled our ears. Alyssa screamed in joy and threw herself into Ethan's arms.

What. a. bitch!
