Chapter 7

Dear diary,

Tonight is the founders ball. Damon says he has something to do after the ball... probably Katherine. I caught him sneaking out of her room yesterday. :( He looked appalled that I caught him. I think something is going on with Stefan and Damon. They're becoming recluse. Talking to me less and less.

"The last time the comet passed over mystic falls there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage it created a bed of paranormal activity." As Bonnie was talking Caroline ripped the journal from Adeline's hands. They sat in front of the grill talking to Bonnie about her grams but Adeline was too focused on finishing her journal.

Caroline snickered. "Hm yeah, and then you poured grams another shot And she told you about the aliens." Bonnie rolled her eyes as Caroline reached over yanking the journal from Adeline's hands.

Adeline scoffed and then groaned. "give it back."

Caroline flipped it all over inspecting the cover. She sighed turning to Adeline. "You've been so totally sucked into this thing. What even is it?"

Adeline paused for a moment debating on telling them the truth or to lie. Adeline folded her hands and sat back in her seat. "It's a journal. My family's journal."

Caroline scoffed. "Well duh we know that. Why are you so sucked into it?"

Adeline paused again. Enough hesitation for both Elena's and Bonnie to sit forward. "It's Damon."

Elena shook her head, confused. "Stefan's brother, Damon?"

Adeline nodded. "There's something up with him and I think the journal might help me figure it out."

Bonnie and Caroline's eyebrows shot up. "How the heck do you expect a 150 year old journal to figure out Damon Salvatore?" Bonnie asked. Adeline let her head fall to the table in frustration.

"I don't know." A loud sigh fell from her mouth.

An even louder sigh fell from her mouth as Caroline spoke. "That man is so delicious."

Adeline shook her head. "He's an asshole."

"Speaking of Salvatore's," Caroline turned to Elena. "So then what?"

"So then nothing." Elena sipped her drink now that the attention is on her. "We talked all night."

"You talked all night?"

Elena nodded. "There was no sloppy first kiss. We didn't go there. And no Not even a handshake before you ask."

"Elena we are your friends you are supposed to share the smut." Caroline sighed and threw herself back in the seat. She then pointed at Adeline who had picked her journal back up. "And don't think I forgot about you. 'He's an asshole' is so code for 'we have chemistry that I don't know how to deal with."

Adeline vehemently shook her head. "Absolutely not." She opened the journal and went back to reading it. Caroline seemed to think that was enough and turned back to Elena.

"What is with the blockage?" Caroline asked with exasperation. "Just jump his bones already. Okay it's easy. Boy likes girl. Girl likes boy. Sex."

Bonnie and Adeline shared a look before Adeline shook her head going back to reading her journal but not before she spoke. "Very profound, Caroline."

Elena stared at the table for a moment before standing up grabbing her bag. "Caroline's right. It is easy. If I sit here long enough I'll end up talking myself out of it. Instead of... doing what I started the day saying I was going to do." She let out a smile before walking away. Presumably to go find stefan.

Adeline and Caroline smirked at each other before high-fiving. Caroline then turned to Adeline once more. "So if you don't want Damon. Can I have him?"

Adeline nodded slowly. "Go for it." Adeline didn't care who Caroline wanted to go for. She cared about gettin to the bottom of her visions. Adeline went back to her journal as Caroline and Bonnie started to talk about whether they thought Elena would actually go through with it.

Dear diary,

It's been weeks since I last wrote in here. I didn't know what to write for a long while. I miss Damon dearly. I tried so hard to save him and Stefan from their fate but I couldn't do it. I went to Emily weeks ago. After hearing stories of her abilities I knew Emily was the one I needed to talk too. I begged her to do anything to save Damon and Stefan. I told her I'd do anything, pay anything and she sent me away saying 'Damon and Stefan would be protected by her all through their lives'  she lied to me. Damon and Stefan passed away two nights after I begged Emily for her help. Shot, by their own father and left to die just for helping Katherine. Katherine who was a monster, slain by the army in a church. I dreamt of Damon the night after his passing. He came to me in my dream and told me it was okay. That he was okay. That he loved me. It was just a dream but it had felt so real.

Adeline closed the journal with dejected attitude. Damon and Stefan died? They couldn't be they were here in 2009, alive. Adeline stared at the table ignoring Caroline and Bonnie as they continued talking. Adeline stood up quickly. "I'll se you guys tonight."

She left before Caroline could argue with her. She needed to be alone to think about what she read. It couldn't be possible that Stefan and Damon died. Maybe, Emily had saved them. Maybe, Clara had been mistaken.
