"Girls! Breakfast!" Adeline sighed as she rolled out of her bed. Her mind was buzzing and sleep came fleeting last night. The conversation she had with Damon only made her more confused and frankly kind of scared. How is it possible that someone who is 25 knew someone who died 143 years ago?

Adeline rushed to put her clothes on and hop into her shoes before she all but jumped down the stairs. Her mom smiled brightly at her as she made it to the kitchen, her little sister Jamie following shortly behind.

Jamie was a cute little girl with blonde ringlets and buck teeth. An unfortunate trait that Adeline grew up with until she broke them in the fifth grade. Two weeks later she had brand new pearly white teeth in there place. Jamie made her way to the island and sat down on the barstool.

Her mom sat a plate in front of her. To which she immediately dug into. Adeline in the other hand didn't even wanna think about food. Damon and his secrets were consuming every bit of her mind.

"Hey mom, do we still have all those old diaries from our ancestors?" Her mom looked deep in thought for a moment before she put down a napkin for Jamie.

"I'm not sure, honey. Who do you ask?" Her tone was tight and her smile was even tighter. Adeline looked at her for a long beat.

"I'm doing a history report on the battle of willow creek, could use some real life sources." The lie seemed to convince her mom.

"I think they might be in a drawer in your father's office." Adeline nodded at her mom and made her way to her father's home office.

Her father was a busy man that spent more of his time on business trips than he did at home. He was good dad, just hardly ever home. Adeline crossed the threshold into the office she was so rarely ever in.

There were old knickknacks placed every once in a while around the room. Snow globes, mugs, bookends- collected over multiple Father's Day and Christmas's.

It wasn't until Adeline reached the massive bookshelf in the corner of the room that she came to a stop. She skimmed the book titles slowly. Textbooks, play writes, novels- collected through his years of schooling and work.

Her hands reached for the drawer and slowly pulled it open. In the top she could see important documents and deeds. She dug through slowly as to not mess up the organized chaos. When it was no avail she moved to the next drawer down.

She sorted through old leather bound books and trinket boxes before she pulled it out. A journal belonging to Clara pincer. It was leather bound in a gorgeous green cover. A silk string hung between the pages, frayed on the end from many years of use. She smiled brightly.

She walked quickly out of the office and back to the kitchen. Which was now empty. She grabbed her backpack from the floor and stuck the journal inside. Carefully as to not mess it up.

Grabbing her backpack she made for the front door to go to her car. Jamie was already waiting inside, ready to be taken to the elementary school. She was in the first grade and rose with her big sister to school every morning, their mom picking her up on the way home.

Adeline smile led brightly at her as she opened the door and begun to strap her into her car seat. Jamie sat still enough to make the process easier. A habit, Adeline was glad she had.

Adeline drove the short drive to the school with the music turned up loud as her sister sang alone in the backseat. Albeit a song Jamie should definitely not know the lyrics too, but because of Adeline's continuous playing of the song she did.

Adeline pulled into the parking lot of the elementary school and began to let Jamie out of her seat. She patted her on the head as she climbed out of the car.
