Adeline's mind was reeling as she sat at her vanity brushing her hair. She stared in the mirror but her thoughts were on anything but her image. Damon's fangs still lingered on her neck. Her hands moved mechanically as she brushed her hair. Staring into the mirror as her mind raced. The soft glow of the lamp beside her lit the room in yellow light. Her thoughts were miles away as she mindlessly brushed her hair. Her thoughts were on Damon- his cool breath on her skin, the sharp edge of fangs grazing her neck, the feeling of being powerless in his grasp.
Everytime she closed her eyes she saw him, feel the way he had toyed with her, like predator does pray. His teasing smile lingered in the back of her head. She tried to act tough in front of him but now here, alone in her room, the reality of it was sinking in. He could've ended her life in seconds, with one single bite. The thought sent a shiver down her spine. She paused setting the brush down on the vanity. Her heart pounded in her chest and the room suddenly felt way too small.
What if he had bitten her? What if he'd gone through with it?
She stood up abruptly pushing her vanity stool back with a soft scrape against the floor. The cool air from her open window sent a shiver through her body. Her mind was racing as she paced through the room. Every shadow in her room seemed so much darker, so much more menacing. As if Damon would crawl out of the shadows and finish what he started.
Adeline wrapped her arms around herself in an act of comfort. She didn't know how to reel with the thought of vampires being real, that Damon was one of them. It felt like a dream she couldn't wake up from.
Her thoughts drifted back to his smirk. It was so infuriatingly confident, as if he knew she couldn't deny his charm and in a way, he was right. Despite what he had done, something about him pulled her in. As much as Adeline tried to push it out of her mind she couldn't deny the rush of emotions she felt when Damon's fangs had grazed her neck. The fear was real but beneath it something else had stirred.
Sitting alone on her bed, in her dimly lit room, her thoughts circled back to the minute hits cool breathe hit her skin, his fangs just barely teasing her. Her heart had raced not just from fear but something else. A twisted sense of excitement. The danger he presented- the power he held over her. It awakes something in her she didn't understand.
Her hand hovered over the spot on her neck that Damon's fangs almost pierced her skin. A part of her wanted him to go through with it. The thought sent a wave of heat through her, making her pulse quicken. She hated he had made her feel that way, that he could make her feel that way. Hated that Damon had gotten under her skin.
There was a part of her that had never felt more alive when she felt that danger. There was an intoxicating mix of fear and desire that had bubbled inside of her having him so close.
She began pacing again but the memory of his touch lingered as if he was still here, watching her, smirking at how easily he had unraveled her.
With loud sigh she threw herself onto her bed. It was late and she needed the sleep. Even though she knew it would come fleeting with her mind racing the way it was.
Her morning was rough as she sat up with a massive headache. Her head was pounding and though it was loud it didn't drown out the sound of her thoughts. All of which were Damon. His fangs, his arm around her waist, the way he toyed with her. She tried to shake the thoughts out of her head as she grabbed her clothes for school. A brown top with jeans. She made way to grab her sweater that was on the end of her bed but paused as she looked at the white fabric.
'Delicious'
His words played in her head. Now she knew what he had meant. She thought back to the blood that had poured from her nose and the way he had watched it drip down her chest. The way he pushed her hand away when she had went to wipe it away. The way he looked at her as she stood in front of him covered in blood. A shiver shot deep down her spine.
