"So you two, dinner, my house, Stefan, at 8?" Elena walked up to mat that Bonnie and Adeline were sitting on. It was cheer practice and Caroline was nowhere to be seen.

"I don't think so," Bonnie said with a grumble.

"Please." Elena brought her hands together under her chin "I want you guys to get to know him."

"I'm in." Anything to get Adeline's mind off of Damon seemed like a good idea in her book.

"Have you Seen Caroline I've texted her like a bazillion times?" Bonnie looked around for Caroline.

"Way to change the subject, Bonnie Bennett." Elena deadpanned as she began to stretch out. "You're going to be there." Adeline stood up bending over to touch her toes. It wasn't until she noticed the confused look of Bonnie that she stood up and turned around.

The music was blaring as the car idled. Caroline in the passenger seat. She slowly climbed out but all Adeline noticed was the fact that Damon had been staring right at her. A smirk played at his lips as his eyes raked over her.

"Sorry I'm late girls. I was uh busy." She took off her glasses and placed them on her head. The scarf on her neck was all Adeline could stare at. Her head whipped around to see Damon chuckling as he pulled out. Adeline held her stomach together. She didn't need to puke right before cheer practice.

"Alright let's start with the double pike herkie hurdler." Caroline stepped back to began but Adeline's stomach turned at the sight of her scarf, at the implication of the scarf. Damon had bit her. Damon had hurt her.

It was a long and mentally agonizing practice but once it was finished Adeline rushed home To get ready for Elena's dinner but more so to get away from Caroline and the thought of her being hurt.

She dug through her closet for something to wear, landing on a dark blue sweater and skinny jeans. She tensed as she felt a sudden presence near her. She could feel his breath behind her. She didn't turn towards him as she'd been frozen in fear.

"You'll look so blah in that one, blondie. Wear the grey one." He almost begged her with a sigh in his voice.

Adeline's breath hitched in her throat. She knew it was him but hearing his voice sent shivers down her spine. His voice was low but she could hear the raspy begging her to wear the gray. Her hand drifted over to it and plucked it off the rack.

"What are you doing here Damon?" She sighed she still hadn't turned to him. A jolt ran through her as his cold finger trailed up her shoulder.

"Just checking in, making sure you're not too mad about my extra curricular activities." He was clearly referring to Caroline. The thought made Adeline turn to him sharply. He smirked. Her hands tremble with anger and fear.

"What did you do to her?" Adeline demanded to know.

"I didn't hurt her if that's what you're asking." He sighed bored. "At least not in the way that you think. She's fine. A little drained but fine."

Adeline clinched her jaw. Her heart pounding louder in her chest. She couldn't tell if it was fear, anger, or the fact that Damon was so close to her.

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Adeline wanted to push him away to create some distance but make knew it would be futile he wouldn't move.

"No, maybe a little jealous though." Damon's voice was low and teasing.

Adeline rolled her eyes. "I am not jealous." She paused for a moment. Enough to make Damon chuckle. "Listen Damon, I'll do anything, be your little henchman or whatever, if you just leave Caroline alone, she's my best friend."
