Lisa's POV

I stared at her while she slept comfortably on the wide couch of my study. She was so emotional that she fell asleep. It's already noon, but I think waking her up for lunch won't help, so I just let her rest for now.

I went to the kitchen and asked my helper if the kid was out of her room and the helper said not yet, so I just got a tray of food to take to the room where she is.

I opened the room and noticed that she immediately wore the hood of her jacket.

I closed the door and put the tray on the side table and sat on the bed.

Even though we don't like each other's presence , I still can't deny that she's my niece and she's my best friend's daughter, so even I don't want to and I  still need to take care of her and spend time with her.

" what are you doing here?" She said boldly, I really can't stand the rude tone of her speech.

Relax Lisa she's your niece. I reminded myself.

"This is my house, right?" I raised my eyebrows and even though i can't see her face i know she's rolling her eyes at me.

"Eat, even if I don't like you, I'm trying to treat you right because of your mom, so please fix your behavior when you're here in my house. Whether you like it or not, you should respect me here in my territory."  I said calmly.

Deafening silence filled the room before she spoke. "thank you." 2 word brought a smile to my lips.

"Treat this household as your own, don't be shy to ask the helpers for what you need." She raised her head and accidentally dropped the hood of her jacket and my eyes widened when I saw the huge bruises on the side of her lips and eyes.

She immediately put back the hood of her jacket which I stopped. "Are you okay?" I gently caressed her cheek but she waved my hand away.

" I'm fine." She replied strongly.

I stood up and took the ointment from the first aid kit in the room and immediately applied it to her bruise which she resisted at first but I insisted so she didn't do anything.

I know that her father hit her but I didn't think that what was done to her was this bad.

I took off her jacket and I was shocked to see that she also had bruises on her arm.

I didn't ask her how she got the bruises because I knew it would be hard for her to say that her father was hurting her.

"Is my mom okay?" She asked as she endured the pain when I put ointment on her bruises.

" She cried but I'm sure she'll feel better when she wakes up." I looked at her but she avoided my gaze and looked down.

"My mom is very comfortable with you, I have never seen her cry not even once." She took the spoon with a small amount of food and put it in her mouth.

"Maybe she doesn't want you to worry that's why she didn't show it to you." I was studying her face and the longer i stared at her I realized that she looked like her mom.

" as she always does, my mom is the most selfless person so sometimes I wonder why my dad didn't love her, he only loves her for show." This is the longest sentence she utters when she talks to me, she usually answers yes, no and a glare.

" Yes she is, Your mom deserves all the good things in this world." I dreamingly said  and received a sharp look from her.

This kid is really something.
