Lisa's POV
I didn't go to the office today because of the stress caused by Jennie, going to the house of her ass hole husband.
I tried to make some report in my study but I was really anxious thinking about her safety.
What if her husband hurts her? I held my soup spoon and chopstick tightly as I thought about the worst scenario that is happening to her now.
"Lisa, are you ok?" I snapped out of my deep thoughts when I heard Jessie.
"yeah, I'm just thinking about something." I smile at her.
We are not close but somehow she has learned to respect me and she is talking to me casually like a normal person.
I'm glad that somehow there is progress in our dealings with each other.
She took a bite of the food in her spoon and swallowed it. "Are you thinking about mom?" I looked at her.
I like the soft tone of her voice when she talks about her mom.
"Don't worry about her too much, maybe my dad hurt me but I don't think he can hurt mom." She seems to be sure of what she is saying.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked curiously.
"I know my dad, he is obsessed with my mom. He considers her like pearls or gems that can't be scratched. I've seen them fight many times, but he never hurt mom, he would rather break things around him than hurt mom, so I'm confident that she'll come back without any scratches." She smiled.
Jennie's daughter is a beautiful child especially when she smiles and somehow I feel relief from what she said.
"You know what? You should smile often, you're beautiful when you smile, you look like your mom." and expectedly she stopped smiling and rolled her eyes on me which made me giggle.
I really like teasing this kid. my thoughts.
I stood up to put my plate in the sink.
"Should I feed Love, or will you do it?" I ask her, somehow I'm happy that she's getting comfortable here at home because she wants to play with Love.
"I'll do it after i eat." She answered casually.
"alright if you need something I'm just in the room." I patted her on the shoulder before I left her in the dining room.
I was getting ready to take a shower when Jennie called me.
" where are you? are you ok?" I immediately asked.
"Relax, I'm on my way home. I just called to ask if Jessie had eaten." I breathed a sigh of relief.
" Thanks God, Jennie made me nervous. She's already eating."
" good. do you want to buy something? I'll pass by the convenience store."
"nothing, just be safe on your way home" now my brain can rest thinking about her.
"Okay bye, I'll be there in about 10 minutes." She hung up and I immediately went to the bathroom .
After I take a shower, I immediately leave the bathroom and it's annoying that I forget to bring my robe and it's a good thing I have a small towel to dry my hair so it doesn't drip when I go out.
