Yon sprang into action, quickly gathering every last one of the guns, his heart racing with a mix of amusement and exhilaration.
"Your remotes as well," Jaeyeon stated as he approached Ji-won, his expression resolute. Ji-won’s face contorted with anger as she grit her teeth, the tension palpable in the air. With a frustrated snarl, she slammed the remote into Jaeyeon’s open palm, her defiance faltering. Soon, all remotes were collected, the balance of power shifting ever so slightly in their favor.
SHADOWS OF BETRAYAL: A VILLAIN'S RECKONING
Eunhye’s arm tightened around Ha-neul’s neck, her eyes narrowing at the doctors in front of them. The tension between both sides was thick, with the threat of violence hanging in the air. Ha-neul, her hands raised, stayed motionless, unsure how to respond now that their weapons had been taken and the remotes controlling the zombies were in the hands of their captives.
"Eunhye Noona..." Sae Joon Hyun’s voice cut through the silence, his tone calm but questioning. "What do you plan on doing now?"
Eunhye’s eyes flickered to him briefly before settling back on the doctors. "We’ll stick to the plan, Sae. Find out what happened to our friends and get out of this place." Her voice was steady, but the anger simmering beneath the surface was unmistakable. She continued, her gaze hard as steel. "And you," she addressed the doctors, "can try to track us down again if you want. But this time, one side isn’t going to walk away alive." Her threat hung in the air, ominous and cold. She knew they understood the stakes. The doctors had seen firsthand the strength of her group—especially Jaeyeon, whose blood they had been harvesting, mistakenly thinking him to be a zombie.
"Tell us where our friends are!" Eunhye’s voice rang out, sharp and demanding, her patience wearing thin.
Hye-jin, standing stiffly among the doctors, swallowed hard before attempting to speak. "Eunhye... listen. There’s no need for violence, I’ll—"
"Shut up," Eunhye interrupted, her voice like ice. "Answer the question."
One of the doctors, Ki-tae, stepped forward slightly, his hands raised in surrender. "There’s a secret floor beneath the basement," he admitted, glaring at Eunhye. "That’s where we’ve kept them. Now let Ha-neul go."
Eunhye’s eyes remained fixed on Ki-tae, calculating. Without turning, she issued an order. "Hamin, Su-yeong, take them into the room behind us. Lock them inside. And bring the zombies with them." Her tone left no room for argument.
Sae Joon Hyun nodded, taking charge. "You heard her. Let’s move," he said, leveling his gun at the doctors as they hesitated. Ki-tae clicked his tongue but complied, while Hye-jin gritted her teeth, frustration visible in her stiff movements. They were led to the only room on the floor, looming large and sterile. Hye-jin bent down and scanned her retina against the door’s security panel, her fingers shaking slightly as she input the code and pressed her hand against the scanner. With a mechanical hiss, the door opened, releasing a swirl of green smoke as it lifted.
The room inside was cold and sterile, lined with empty tubes and various pieces of medical equipment. Yuri pushed Ji-won roughly into the room while Jaeyeon dragged the zombies behind them, their vacant eyes and lifeless movements under control thanks to the remotes. He tossed the last of the undead into the room, watching as they slumped over, docile and unaware.
Ji-won turned to face them, her face twisted in fury. "Our CEOs will come for you," she spat through clenched teeth. "You’re all dead."
Eunhye remained unmoved, her grip on Ha-neul unwavering. With a final shove, she threw Ha-neul into the room with the others. Hye-jin caught her, steadying her as they both glared at their captors.
