Benched

❝What can I say? I'm dramatic.❞

AFTER MK AND HIS friends had escaped from you, you now had to look for them again. Surprisingly, you found them again in Lantern City. You decided to remain hidden in the shadows and wait for the moment of strike.

You followed them around without being spotted, not even Wukong noticed you. They got into this talent competition to win something called the Ring of Samadhi and you knew what was it. You were still hidden away from their sight, an evil smirk tugging on your lips, "The Samadhi Fire, huh?  So that's how you're going to beat the Lady Bone Demon." You mumbled, now sitting a plan to take the last ring along with the other two. Suddenly, your grin disappeared as the words of the Lady Bone Demon echoed in your head.

One misstep, one failure in any way, I will erase the very memory of you.

You gritted your teeth in frustration, "We'll see about that." You mumbled before leaving the area.

-MINI TIME SKIP-

"Welcome to the stage 'Monkie Kid and the Monkie Kids.'"

You heard the announcer say, introducing Mk and his friends to perform. However, you kept your eyes on one person... Tang. The man looked left out of the group, he could be so useful to you, "No one benches me. I'm Mr. Tang. I don't know why we're wasting time with the talent show when we could just be taking the ring. I'll show them who's benched!" You heard him say before he ran out.

"My opportunity."

You immediately followed Tang, seeing him make his way to the giant lantern in the middle of the city. You raced Tang there and you two got into the lantern in same time. You could see the Samadhi ring in the middle on a dragon-shaped podium, "I'm alive! There it is. The Ring!" He exclaimed as his eyes landed on the ring. That's when you decided to make an appearance. Tang's shadow got bigger which frightened him a lot.

You appeared through the wall with an evil chuckle, "You have more guts than I thought. It's Tang, right? You know, it's funny. I thought, "you're smart". I mean, look at the guy. He's got glasses. If anyone knows where the legendary Samadhi Fire is, it's the guy sitting in the wings while his friends are busy having fun without him." You taunted him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders while missing with his glasses. You could see betrayal in his eyes as if your words effected him, but he quickly pushed your arm away and ran away.

He jumped to grab the ring, but you stepped in and kicked the man out of the way which made him slam against the wall. You landed in front of the podium that held the ring and reached to take it, "Stop! The Samadhi Fire is humanity's last chance to defeat the Lady Bone Demon!" Tang exclaimed loudly, hoping that you would understand. However, you gave him a scoff.

"Well, humanity's just gonna have to find something else. The Samadhi Fire is my best chance of getting as far away from her as possible."

"Surely even you can see that unless we stand together–"

You tsk-ed in mockery at his statement, "Together?  Remind me again exactly what it is you contribute to the team?  They seem to get on just fine without you. Don't take it personally, Tang. Your buddy Wukong values people by how useful they are to him. Take it from me, as an expert on what happens when you get too close to the King... Look out for number one, because if you don't, no one will." You uttered, your fist hitting the podium that it cracked slightly. Tang remained quiet for a few second before he stood up and looked at you with determination.

"You're wrong. I know I'm not as strong as they are. I may still be searching for my purpose, but what I do know is that doing it alone is not the path I'm destined to take. Deep in my heart, I know that my place is alongside my friends. And one day, I will become someone they can depend on, the way I can always depend on them.  As long as we stand together, there will always be hope."

A paper flew by and you grabbed it, seeing it was a drawing of Mk and his friends. Suddenly, a loud sound rang in your ears that you groaned in pain. You didn't waste time and dashed at Tang quickly. You were about to attack him, but a protective barrier formed around him. You two were tossed around by the movements of the giant lantern. Just then, electricity bursted through the lantern which was a bad sign. Tang was thrown out of the lantern after he quickly grabbed the ring with him.

Meanwhile, you stayed there and got electrocuted as a result. You groaned and you dropped down on your knees, hugging your body to soothe the agonizing pain. The lights suddenly turned off and you got a bad feeling about this. Standing up, you saw tiny blue orbs around you while ominous whispers came from nowhere.

"I set you a task. You were to retrieve the Monkey King and his protégé. Yet, you refused the path of destiny, and so there will be pain."

Your face paled and started to breathe rapidly, knowing the fate that waited for you. You could feel her presence behind you. Chains erupted from the ground, suspending you into the center of the lantern, "No! They have a weapon! They have the Samadhi Fire!" You told her while struggling to break the chains, desperate to get away from this crazy witch. Lady Bone smirked as she stepped out to your view, "Really? It appears there is still time to correct your failure." As she said that, LBD's power flowed into you violently, you were released from the chains as your right arm is covered in spiked crystals and eyes glow blue.

"Bring the Fire to me. I will grant you my aid, my power in this final trial. But make haste, for I will leave nothing left of you."

Your loud scream rang all over the city and Lady Bone's powers covered the entire area, trapping people in the ice. You fell down, holding your iced arm, "Wh-Why... Why is this happening to me? It's all because him." You thought as you felt the pain subside slightly.

"Wukong... I will not let you get in my way anymore."

With that settled in your mind, you left the lantern and chased after the Monkie Kids. You had enough of pain, it was time to finally free yourself from that demon once and for all... even if you have to sacrifice the love of your life.
