❝What can I say? I'm dramatic.❞
AFTER A WHILE of waiting and hanging out with the monkeys, Mk had returned to Flower Fruit Mountain with his friends after saving them from Azure and his brothers. They also brought the Lotus Prince with them as well, good job, Mk.
You were glad that he made it safely, but a bit disappointed because they couldn't save Wukong just yet. Still, Mk managed to get the piece of scroll Monkey King was trapped into. Right now, Mk and his friends were planning to attack Azure in order to save Wukong and the others who were trapped in the scroll. You didn't want to join them, so you went inside Wukong's house. It was enough that you helped Mk get his self-esteem back, you had done your job and more
"I'm not getting involved with them." You thought while exploring around the house. Just then, your eyes landed on a sketch book placed carelessly on a table. You raised an eyebrow and approached the book, taking it in your hands, "Tsh, he's seriously still drawing?" You questioned in amusement, opening the book to look through the drawings. You weren't impressed too much because you knew that Wukong was talented in drawing unlike you. You understood that he might still had this hobby because he would be bored here and alone.
"Still so talented." You muttered as you continued to flip the pages. The last drawing you saw shocked you. Not because it was so good, but because what Wukong draw was actually you. Yes you!

It was so beautiful and you were smiling happily... Could it be possible that Wukong missed this part of you? A part that you killed long ago when you came back to life. Your hand touched the drawing gently, feeling the texture beneath your fingers. You bit the inside of your cheek, starting to doubt your thoughts about him. So, you quickly closed the book and put it back, "No... I'm not helping him, it's his problem not mine." You mumbled and turned away from the book, but the picture Wukong draw was still lingering in your mind. You never thought that he would draw you knowing that your relationship was no longer good.
Your fists clenched tightly and you let out a deep sigh, "I can't believe I still care about you." You thought with a frown and put your hand on your mouth to cover the blush. You stepped out to see the guys and leaned against the wall, seeing that the atmosphere wasn't that good, "Be that as it may, we have no idea what you'll find once you're inside. Or if this magical tape will even hold!" You heard Ne Zha say with a hint of frustration.
"Oh, it's not magical tape." Sandy started, but Tang shushed him before they could get into trouble with the Lotus Prince.
"We have to try. He'd do the same, for any of us." Mk enthusiastically reminded Ne Zha... as if he wasn't so depressed hours ago. This actually hit the spot for you, Wukong would surely risk his life to save his friends, "You're right. It's worth the attempt." Ne Zha agreed. With a deep sigh, you teleported beside Mk, "Ugh, can't believe I'm sticking my neck out for Wukong. Again." You uttered with your arms crossed, but this actually surprised Mk.
"Wha?! You're coming too?!"
"Yeah, if he's lost in broken memories from his past, then who better to tag along than someone who was there for some of it? And besides, your knowledge of the Journey to the West seems pretty selective."
Your statement actually hit Mk's ego, but he accepted it and cleared his throat, "What— You know what? Your criticism is harsh but fair. Alright, LE'GO!" With that being said, Tang used his powers to teleport you to inside the Scroll of Memory. Ink raised up and it was dark for a moment before the substance was gone. You two were now in front of the entrance to Shuilian Cave but nearly cracked with power.
"Wukong, what have you done?"
"Monkey King did this?"
You frowned upon understanding why Wukong had done this, "It looks like he's been tearing his way through his past. Trying to find his way to..." You trailed off and looked at Mk.
"Me."
"We need to find him. Fast!"
Mk nodded and you two moved to look for Monkey King, but Mk suddenly stopped which made you almost fall, "Oh, there he is! That was easy." He exclaimed while pointing at Wukong... or rather one of his past selves. The version you saw was way before you two even met, "That ain't him. That's just a memory, and a pretty broken one too. I really wish they used magic tape. I'll know the real Wukong when we find him. I can smell him a mile away." You explained to him, seeing Wukong run to a bunch of monkeys before the memory repeated again.
However, Mk noticed that one monkey wasn't actually a memory but a real one, "Hey! That monkey is..." The boy seemed to recall something before he went to the little creature, "Hey! Hey, little guy!" As Mk greeted the monkey, it ran past him to you, hugging and nuzzling you. You had on a deadpanned look on your face because you disliked this much attention, "Alright. Let's get moving." You said and peeled the money off you with your tail. You then proceeded to walk way, but the monkey was trying to get your attention or tell you something.
"Whatcha tryna tell us, lil' guy?"
"Kid, come on, we got—"
Mk had the audacity to shut you up and listen to the monkey, "I think he wants us to go in... that!" Mk point at the Shuilian Cave's cracked entrance. You sighed and shrugged your shoulders, "Alright then. You ready to become King of the Monkeys?" You joked around with a smirk on your face. Mk turned to you with confusion, "What?" He asked you because he didn't understand what you were talking about.
"'Cause when Monkey King jumped through the waterfall, he became... You really should read the book, kid. Here we go."
You sighed and grabbed Mk, jumping through the crack to go to the next memory. When you both appeared on the other side, you found yourselves in a city. You landed on a rooftop by a shadow portal with the monkey still holding into. Meanwhile, Mk hit the roof harshly. The monkey saw another one and went to its friend, "How many of these little guys are in here?" You questioned with a raised eyebrow, seeing the two monkeys dancing together.
"I dunno, barrel's worth? Look!" Mk pointed at another old version of Wukong, still before meeting you.
"I am the Monkey King! I'm speaking human! Don'tcha like it?"
You heard Wukong proudly talk to the people, he was so silly and stupid. You will definitely bully him for that, but not now, "Just another memory, bud." With that being said, you stepped into another crack with the two monkeys on your shoulders.
This was just the beginning and you hoped it won't take long to find Wukong and get out of here before you could reach some of the sensitive memories.
