Worse than Expected

❝What can I say? I'm dramatic.❞

YOU DIDN'T WANT to do this to them, but you had too. You had enough of being a slave, you wanted freedom and this was the only way. It was finally time to get what you wanted.

No one was going to stand against you, it was only Tang who can start the ritual. You waited for him to begin, still holding Mei by her throat. Finally, Tang made his decision and started the ritual. His eyes flashed gold as he held his hand out, creating a golden light in the center of the temple. The brilliant light blasted up the mountain to the eyes to see. The rings started to light up with dark red fire, making Mei panic, "No! Please, I-I wanna get off this ride!" She exclaimed while freaking out.

"Yes!" A smirk tugged on your lips upon seeing the bright light again and the rings on fire. Just then, your grin disappeared as you felt Wukong's presence approaching in an incredible speed. Your theory was confirmed when you heard his voice, "Stop!" Monkey King shouted, dashing at you and Mei on his cloud to save the girl. However, it was too late to do so. Mei was engulfed in a red ball of flames of the Samadhi Fire just when the last ring lit up, pushing everyone away from her.

You used your arms to protect yourself from the burning fire. The ice Lady Bone had put on your body had all vanished, freeing you from her control, "It worked!" You announced and looked down at your hands. You were finally free, no longer under that vile woman's control. However, your attention shifted to Mei who was screaming in agony.

"I'm too late. Kid!" You heard Wukong call out.

"What? Mei?! What's happening?! Don't worry, I'm coming for ya! Someone get some water. Stop, drop, and roll, Mei!"

Mk was going to reach Mei, but Wukong quickly stopped him before he could hurt himself, "Mere water cannot extinguish the Samadhi Fire. Nothing can. The fire will destroy this girl and burn everything in its path." The Lotus Prince made his appearance while he explained, freeing both Sandy and Pigsy from the ice you trapped them in.

"What?!" Mei yelled.

"Yeah, what?!" Mk joined her.

Just then, Monkey King's glare went to you, "You! You ruined everything!" You could see him dash to you in an incredible speed, shocking you. You quickly opened a shadow portal behind you to teleport away, but Wukong managed to grab you by the scarf around your neck, "I didn't do this!" You defended yourself. You could see a hint of betrayal and disappointment in his eyes, as if he didn't want to believe that you did this and ruined his entire plan. Still, Wukong remained insistent on his opinion, "Well, you weren't not involved!" He exclaimed, pulling his fist back to punch you. Upon seeing this, you closed your eyes tightly, waiting for the pain to approach. However, Tang stopped him before things could get any worse.

"Stop! It was me! I mean, yeah Y/N forced me to do it, and I'm definitely starting to have second thoughts on the whole thing now but... I don't know how and I don't know why, I just felt like I had too... like it was... destiny."

Monkey King growled and let you go which relieved you, "I hate to interrupt but can someone explain what is going on?! What's happening to Mei?" Mk asked as he pointed at his burning friend. From the anxious look on Wukong's face, you could tell that he had messed... horribly, "Okay, this is going to sound really bad, but hear me out." He started which actually confirmed your idea that he did something.

"Wukong, what have you done?" Ne Zha asked with a frown on his face.

"I made a mistake. During the ritual, a piece of the Samadhi Fire got away from me. I don't know what happened, but I guess, part of it was sealed away in the closest vessel that could contain it. My loyal companion, the White Horse Dragon, Ao Lie."

"Mei's great, great, great, times a thousand great-grandfather!" Sandy said.

"Making Mei the fourth ring!" Mk finished.

This didn't help to ease Mei's frustration at all, "You knew! All along you knew I had this thing inside of me!" Mei blurted out. Mk tried to assure her, but she didn't listen to him, "And you hid it from all of us! Why?! What were you afraid of?! That you were going to have to tear me apart to get your precious Samadhi Fire?!" Mei lashed out on Wukong. The blasts of fire got stronger due to her anger, but Monkey King shielded you and the kid from getting burned.

"This wasn't supposed to happen! I thought if I could get the Samadhi fire out of you, without hurting you of course. Then I could put it inside myself. Then I don't know, use it to burn up the Lady Bone Demon or something? I was kinda making this up as I went—"

You mentally facepalmed after hearing his horrible plan and you weren't the only one who thought so, both Mk and Ne Zha agreed with you.

"We trusted you! All of us! How could you lead us into this fight without a real plan?! Time and time again, I've watched you put MK in danger, leaving him to figure everything on his own! Don't you realize you're hurting the people who care about you the most?!"

The dragon avatar Mei summoned unconsciously that was once green became red, it was a terrifying sight to see, "She's completely out of control! If there's a time to go, it's now!" You stated, forcing yourself to stand up. Mk turned to face you, confusion and worry evident on his face, "No! Mei is my best friend. I'd never abandon her when she needs me! We're heroes, it's what we do!" As he said that, your gaze shifted to Wukong who looked at you over his shoulders.

Was that a look of regret in his eyes?

Meanwhile, Mei continued to unleash her rage. You didn't want to die here after you got your freedom, so you opened a portal beneath your feet and teleported away, leaving them to deal with this mess. You went to a forest and dropped down on your knees, looking at your hands, "I'm free... that's what matters to me." You thought whilst clenching your fists tightly. Even so, you still didn't forget Wukong's gaze of disappointment. What can you do? It was this or slaving that witch for the rest of your life, "That ordeal is none of my business. I'm free now." You said and stood up to escape and hide away from the Lady Bone Demon.

"Are you really free though?"
