I was still replaying the fight with Ethan in my mind when I heard a knock at the door. My heart raced as I opened it and saw Ivy standing there, looking nervous yet determined. The tension that hung between us was heavy, but seeing her face lit a spark of hope in my chest.

"Hey," I said softly, stepping aside to let her in. She walked past me, and I couldn't help but take a moment to admire her. The way she carried herself, even in uncertainty, made my heart ache with a mix of desire and worry.

"Hey," she replied, her voice barely audible.

We settled on the couch, a silence enveloping us. I could feel the weight of what had happened hanging in the air. Ivy looked conflicted, and I wanted to reach out and reassure her, but I didn't know how.

"I've been thinking a lot about everything," she finally said, breaking the silence.

"Yeah? Me too," I admitted, running a hand through my hair.

She took a deep breath, her eyes searching mine as if she were looking for something. "I came to talk about us."

My heart skipped a beat. "Us?"

"I'm confused, Jace. But I realized something," she said, and I leaned in closer, desperate to hear what she had to say. "What I feel for you is different. I don't feel the same way about Ethan anymore. It's you. I want to give us a chance."

Her words hit me like a freight train. I struggled to process them, unsure if I had heard her right. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice thick with emotion.

"I want to explore what's between us. I want to see where it goes," she admitted, and I felt a rush of excitement course through me. There was a clarity in her eyes that I hadn't seen before, and it made my heart race.

"You really mean that?" I asked, needing to confirm this wasn't just a moment of weakness for her.

"I do," she said, locking her gaze with mine. "I know this is all so sudden, but I can't ignore what I feel."

In that moment, everything else faded away. The fight, the confusion, the uncertainty—it all became insignificant. I felt a surge of hope, and the desire to pull her close was overwhelming.

"I've wanted this for so long, Ivy," I confessed, leaning closer. "I just didn't know if you felt the same way."

Her eyes sparkled with something I couldn't quite define. "I do," she repeated, and I couldn't hold back anymore.

I reached for her hand, intertwining our fingers. "Let's figure this out together," I said, my voice steady. "I don't want to lose you."

She smiled, and in that moment, everything felt right. The past didn't matter as much anymore; all that mattered was us. I knew we had a chance worth taking, and I was ready to dive in headfirst.
