"I practice speeches in private, I was impressed with my every line, I think we call that performing, that's not how I want to spend my life."
-Gracie Abrams
After me and Harry parted ways, I made my way towards the locker room to get changed. Once I arrived it was 3:05 and practice started at 3:15, so I had just under ten minutes to get ready.
As soon as I entered the change rooms I spotted a familiar brunette and greeted her.
"Hey Brynn!"
She turned away from her friends and beamed at me.
"Yay Mils you made it." she brought me into a tight hug in which I quickly returned.
After she introduced me to her friends I changed into a tank and shorts and put on my Hoka's as fast as possible and then grabbed my hair brush and made a beeline for the mirror that was on the wall beside the door.
My hair was in a slick back braid today but after the long day it had loosened slightly and that annoyed me, so I began to brush it out and redo it before practice.
All the other girls in the changerooms were chatting among themselves and hanging up their school bags or putting up their hair quickly too. This was the usual with girls in sports - or just in general it takes us forever to get ready. I sighed, I should've arrived earlier.
The door to the changerooms opened beside me and made me almost jump out of my skin. A girl rushed in - clearly late and headed to get changed.
She's so real.
Once I finished my hair I walked over to one of the benches to grab my phone from my bag. It was now 3:13.
Damn not surprised that girl was sprinting to get ready.
"Millie you ready?" Brynn smiled at me as she was about to head out the door. I nodded and followed her out and then we all headed towards the field.
"Just tell me if your foot starts hurting okay, the coach already knows about your ankle anyway I told her."
"Thanks, but I'll be fine Brynn."
She laughed, "oh I know, but Ben would kill me if you broke anything else."
"Fair enough, " I shrugged, "but he's the one with shin splints right now."
"Well you're not wrong there.."
I looked around the field and sure enough the boys were already here before us, stretching on the track or messing around with their friends. How on earth did they get ready so fast?
The coach hadn't arrived yet though, but Brynn had told me that she usually arrived a little late. I was about to have a sip of water before I did my stretches but then I realized I must've left it in my backpack.
