Once they were outside, the chill of the night air hit Hyunjin's skin, but it was a welcome relief from the heat of the chaos. Jisung quickly pulled out his phone, dialing for emergency help. Felix kept his focus on Hyunjin, worry etched across his features.
"Stay with me, okay? Help is coming," Felix murmured, his voice soothing yet urgent.
"I'm trying," Hyunjin replied, his breath coming in shallow gasps. "Just don't leave me."
"I won't. I promise," Felix said, squeezing his hand tightly.
As they waited, Hyunjin felt the world begin to dim again. The pain was relentless, and the fatigue clawed at him, threatening to pull him under.
"Hyunjin!" Felix's voice was sharp, snapping him back to attention. "Stay awake! Just a little longer."
"Felix," he whispered, struggling to keep his eyes open. "I love you. I'll be okay."
Tears welled in Felix's eyes. "I love you too. More than anything. Just hold on for me, okay? You're the strongest person I know."
The sound of sirens grew closer, and in that moment, Hyunjin felt a surge of determination. He couldn't let Felix down. He had to fight through this.
Suddenly, the flashing lights of an ambulance illuminated the darkness, and the paramedics rushed toward them. Relief flooded through Felix as they began to assess Hyunjin's injuries.
"Stay with us, sir" one of the paramedics said, quickly getting to work.
"Felix... don't leave," Hyunjin managed, feeling the weight of the world slipping away.
"I'm right here," Felix promised, squeezing his hand tighter. "Always."
As they loaded him into the ambulance, Hyunjin felt Felix's hand slip away. Panic surged within him, but Felix was right there, leaning in close, their eyes locked.
"Stay strong for me, okay? I'll be right behind you," Felix assured, his voice steady even as fear flickered in his eyes.
Hyunjin nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over him. He closed his eyes, focusing on the warmth of Felix's presence, the love that anchored him to this world.
With one last deep breath, he surrendered to the darkness, trusting that when he opened his eyes again, he would find Felix waiting for him.
Hyunjin drifted in and out of consciousness as the ambulance sped through the night, the sound of sirens blending with the frantic voices of the paramedics working on him. Every jolt of the vehicle sent waves of pain coursing through his body, but amidst the haze, he could feel the remnants of Felix's warmth lingering on his skin.
"Hang in there!" one of the paramedics urged, adjusting the IV drip that fed fluids into his arm. "You're doing great."
Hyunjin wanted to respond, to assure them that he was fine, but the words wouldn't come. Instead, he focused on the steady rhythm of the paramedic's voice, each word a lifeline pulling him back from the brink.
As they entered the hospital, bright lights blinded him momentarily. The chaos of the emergency room buzzed around him, nurses and doctors moving swiftly to assess the situation. He felt the gurney he was on shift as they wheeled him into a treatment room.
"Get me a blood type match! We need to stabilize him!" he heard someone shout, and a flurry of activity erupted around him.
Hyunjin's heart raced. He wanted to fight against the fog, to stay present, but fatigue wrapped around him like a heavy blanket, dragging him deeper into darkness.
Felix arrived just as they were about to start working on Hyunjin, his heart pounding in his chest as he rushed into the emergency room. He had been anxiously waiting outside, praying for news, his mind racing with worry.
"Where is he?" Felix asked, breathless, scanning the room for any sign of Hyunjin.
"Room 204," a nurse replied, and Felix didn't waste a second. He dashed down the hall, fear and determination propelling him forward.
As he entered the treatment room, his breath caught in his throat. Hyunjin lay on the gurney, pale and unconscious, wires and tubes connected to him, his body still.
"Hyunjin!" Felix gasped, rushing to his side. He gripped Hyunjin's hand, feeling the warmth still radiating from his skin. "Please, wake up. I'm here."
"Sir?" a nurse said, noticing him. "You need to step back. We're going to need to work quickly."
"No, I can't leave him!" Felix protested, his voice cracking. "He needs me!"
The nurse hesitated, then nodded. "Fine, but you need to stay out of the way."
Felix nodded, tears welling in his eyes as he watched the team work frantically, shouting orders, monitoring vital signs.
"Come on, Hyunjin," Felix murmured, willing his boyfriend to fight. "You can't leave me. I love you too much. Please."
Hours passed, the sterile scent of the hospital mingling with the desperation in Felix's heart. The tension in the room was palpable, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on him.
Finally, he felt a stir beneath his hand. Hyunjin's fingers twitched, and Felix leaned in closer, his heart racing with hope.
"Hyunjin?" he whispered, his voice barely a breath.
Slowly, Hyunjin's eyes fluttered open, struggling against the bright lights above him. "Felix?" he croaked, his voice hoarse and weak.
"Yes, Hyunjin. It's me. I'm right here." Felix said, relieved that Hyunjin had woken up.
"Felix..." Hyunjin's voice was barely a whisper, and he looked so fragile, so vulnerable lying there. "I... I didn't want to worry you."
"Worry me?" Felix chuckled through his tears, a mix of relief and anger bubbling up inside him. "You almost left me! You scared the hell out of me, Hyunjin!"
Hyunjin offered a weak smile, his strength slowly returning. "I'm sorry. I just... I wanted to protect you."
Felix shook his head, his heart swelling with affection and concern. "You don't have to protect me. I'm here to protect you, remember? We're in this together."
Hyunjin's smile faded as a shadow of guilt crossed his features. "But I couldn't... I couldn't keep you safe."
"Hey, look at me." Felix leaned closer, forcing Hyunjin to meet his gaze. "You did everything you could. You fought like hell. You're a warrior, Hyunjin. And I'm so proud of you."
The sincerity in Felix's voice melted the tension in Hyunjin's chest, and he felt warmth spread through him. "I love you, Felix," he said, his voice shaky but resolute.
"I love you too," Felix replied, his heart pounding. "And I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
