I grabbed a plate and got into line for breakfast. Minho was in front of me and Gally behind me. And, oh, it was about to get interesting.
I suddenly felt a hand grab me. And not on the shoulder. Or the back. You know where. I gasped and whirled, a mask of anger on my face.
"You didn't!" I screeched. All conversation stopped. He had a smug look on his face, and his gang of assholes were slapping high fives.
"I did what, sweetheart?" No. No he didn't.
I was suddenly assaulted by a flash of images.
"I did what, sweetheart?" A younger looking version of my Mother said innocently. A five year old me playfully slapped her arm. "You ate the last cookie!" I cried in a high pitched voice. "Now, now." A man walked into the room and swooped me up, tickling me. "It wasn't your mother, Lizzy." I giggled as he brushed my nose with his. "It was me!" My father. I screamed in delight as they attacked me with tickles. When they were finished they threw me on the couch, then came to join me. They snuggled on either side of me. I felt safe, warm and happy. "I love you sweetheart." My mother whispered. "We'll ways be there for you, no matter what happens.""Elizabeth? Are you okay?" I blinked tears out of my eyes to see a bunch of a concerned faces and an even more smug Gally face looking at me. Then all hell broke lose. I incoherently screamed as I kneed Gally in the balls. There was a collective "ouch" in the crowd. Gally went red and doubled over. I smacked my fist on his head and kicked his legs out from under him. He fell with a thump. Suddenly arms were around me, pulling me back. Hot tears still streamed down my face. I was SO embarrassed. "LET ME AT HIM!" I screamed and struggled against Minho the muscle man. "I'LL KILL HIM! I'LL KILL HIM!" Ably put a hand on my shoulder as I thrashed weakly. Minho patted my head.
I broke free and put on a dead sprint into the deadheads.
I crashed through the dimly lit area, sobbing.
Twigs scratched my arms and face and I swatted at them. My stomach churned. How utterly embarrassing! I had completely lost my appetite and was so close to puking my guts out.
I finally saw a splash of gray in the green ahead and slowed before I ran into the wall. I gasped for breath and held my stomach, trying to ease the side cramps.
"Elizabeth?" Blair. I remembered the last time I saw him. And of course he was at breakfast today to witness that embarrassing scene. I just could not stop crying! That memory really shook me up. "Are you okay?" I shook my head and sniffed. I didn't want him to see me in this state. I felt his hand on my shoulder and ripped away, glaring at him. "Please. Go. I don't want you to see me like this." He looked conflicted. I felt fresh tears flow. "Please." I whispered voice cracking. He took a hesitant step forward, stopped and looked me up and down. Then he bit his lip and disappeared into the bushes. I crouched on the floor and buried my face in my hands, sobbing. I cried myself dry. When I was finished it was mid-morning. I quickly jumped to my feet, knowing I looked like crap and wanted a good hot shower. I went momentarily blind, the result of getting up too fast. Anyone else have this annoying problem?
I walked swiftly out of the deadheads with purpose, and went un-interrupted until I got to the showers.^^^
I stepped out of the shower and let the breeze flow across my face. I listened to Gally yell at the builders, Ably screaming like a girl as Blair drenched him with water, and most of all, just the wind.
Go see Newt.
I snorted. "I was planning to." I told the Voice sassily. "Who are you talking to?" I looked to the side to see Winston looking at me warily. I flipped my hair in irritation. "Nobody." Then I stalked away, following the irresistible pull towards Newt. I glance back once, an he stood there looking like he wanted to stick me in a funny farm. I didn't blame him.
I threw open the homestead door and headed up the steps. I avoided the holes, now wary thanks to my 'accident' awhile ago. I slowly opened the door to Newts room and stuck my head around it. He was laying there looking at the ceiling. I stepped in and closed it behind me. He looked to me. "Hey." He croaked. He got worse and worse everyday. His skin was a sickly gray with dark shadows under his eyes.
I sat in the chair next to the bed and took his hand. "Hey." He cleared his throat and struggled to sit up, wincing. I helped him until he was somewhat sitting. He coughed once and looked at me with a bit of humor and anger in his bloodshot eyes. "I heard." Of course. "I'm going to kill Gally." He muttered and started to twist his hands together. I patted his back.
"He did...you know!" He seemed to search for words. "You beat him up good though. Or so I've heard. You didn't let him get a punch in." I smiled a bit. "But then," He frowned. "But then you spaced out. You started to cry." He sounded distressed. "You ran off without eating. Why?" I shrugged, trying to act nonchalant. "He said some things." Newt frowned. "That upset you! Oh I'm gonna kill him!" He struggled to get up, but I pushed him down. "Calm yourself!" He glared at me and I did a double take. "You okay?" I asked. He snorted and flipped over, burying his face in the pillow.

"Okay. Would you rather spend a night in the maze or have to bunk with Captain Gally?" Minho popped a blueberry into his mouth with a smirk. "Gross!" I shrieked. "I would definitely choose a night in the maze." Minho laughed. "You and me both." Chuck plopped down into his hammock. "I hate my job." He sighed. I patted his knee. "Don't we all?"
Minho, Chuck and I were chillin' in the shade. It was pretty hot and Minho liked to show off. So he got back at around noon despite the sweltering humidity.
"Ably now officially hates me." Blair sat beside me and put an arm over my shoulder. "It was totally worth it though." I laughed. Ably had been so mad after Blair drenched him he had totally shunned him. "I feel so full I think I'm going to explode." I leaned my head on Blair's shoulder. He stroked my hair. Minho tucked away another sandwich. I stared at him. "How?" He patted his stomach. "A magician never reveals his secrets."
Suddenly the air was filled with a clanging sound. Shouts rose and people looked panicked. The Greenie Alarm.
"Not again." Minho put his head in his hands. "We had Lizzy a week early. She's a load of trouble. And a girl. Not another week early Greenie." I slapped Minho. "You think it's another girl? You probably just want some more cute boys to torment." I cackled evilly as his head shot up. I was halfway to the box before he was even on his feet.
