I woke up the next morning to Cassie, Uncle Moony and Uncle Sirius knocking on the door. I sat up on the couch as Aunt Marls answered.
"Morning, sorry I'm the worst." She hugged them all. Sirius grabbed her face.
"It's about time they knew anyway, Marls." He told her. Uncle James, Aunt Lily, Harry and Rosie came next, Aunt Marls offered the same apology met by the same response Uncle Sirius gave. Mum and dad were there last, Matty stood behind them.
"I'm so fucking sorry, it just slipped out, I know it's not my place-" Mum cut her off.
"Marlene, it's fine. They deserve to know." We all crowded in the small living room, the door swung open and there stood Uncle Evan and Uncle Barty.
"Sorry we're late!" Uncle Evan announced frantically. Mum shook her head as they sat on the floor.
"Okay, so, we haven't exactly told you everything regarding Peter." Sirius started. I looked to Cassie, who just grabbed my hand. Rose grabbed my other one.
"We told you he died for his loyalty, which he did, but not to our side of the fight." Mum explained. Dad cleared his throat.
"He was a death eater, sort of you know's right hand, I was a spy at that point." He looked to Aunt Lily.
"Reg told us how Peter was trying to figure out the prophecy of the child that could destroy him, eventually he did. That kid was Harry. On Halloween he planned to kill us all. We all camped out in our house, against Dumbledores orders and protected each other." She looked to Mum.
"Uh, James answered the door, Peter rose his wand and began to cast the killing curse," She looked up at the ceiling to avoid looking at us. "I didn't think. I just did it. I killed him before he could kill James, or anyone." Uncle James placed a hand on her knee.
"We ran to Harry, Lily was already in there, by the time we all got there Voldemort was gone. None of us did anything to him." He explained.
"We don't know if he'll ever come back like that, we don't know if he even can, but we do know how to handle it this time around." Moony told us with a reassuring nod. We looked to each other. It was silent for a moment.
"Fuck the prophecy." Cassie blurted. I nodded. The adults laughed.
"Who the fuck gets to tell us what happens to us?" Rosie asked.
"No one." I told her. She nodded.
"Exactly."
"Fuck the prophecy." We all said together. Mum laughed and pulled us into a hug. She sniffled.
"I'm sorry my babies, we should have told you." She whispered.
"It was your story to tell." Cassie told her.
"But it revolved around all of you."
"Why did you guys never tell us?" Rose asked. Mum pulled back and looked to James, then Sirius, then Remus. They all shared the same look.
"We thought marauders till we die meant something for us, all of us, but it didn't for him. That hurt us." Uncle Moony told us. We glanced at each other.
"We had so many good memories with him, we wanted to keep those alive, not the betrayal." Uncle James explained. Cassie squeezed my hand.
"You guys aren't us though. You're the better versions." Marlene told us. "We know because we raised you."
"Do you miss him?" Matty finally spoke up from the back of the couch. They all shared a look. I craned my neck to look at him. Usually his face was stoic, no sense of emotion, but right now he almost looked worried. I placed my head on his thigh.
